Will is our new Bar Manager! Here’s a few snaps from the cocktail training he arranged for the rest of the team ☺️
You may get some emails from Will in the run up to your wedding about your bar packages, you’ll see him during your bar tastings and he’s there on the bar making sure evening perfect on your wedding day.
We asked Will a few questions:
What’s your favourite part of the wedding day? Towards the end of the night when it’s all in full flow on the dance floor and everyone’s having a great boozy time! 🕺
What’s your favourite canapé? I’m a big fan of seafood; anything like that would be perfect for me 👌🏼

Don’t forget you can take things through from one barn to the other! Alex and Rob moved their arch through to behind them at the top table, which looked stunning during their speeches and meal. We also moved through the candles to either side of the top table 😍

It’s the thing couples seem to dread the most…rain on their wedding day! However, at Lodge Farm we embrace it; we’ve plenty of umbrellas and we also always have a contingency plan in place.
Our beautiful ceremony barn also makes for a lovely space for your drinks reception and group shots! 😍
Photographers are really flexible and when there’s a break in the rain, you can head out for the shots in the paddock or woods. Alternatively, you can just take an umbrella and still get some beautiful photos 🙌🏼📸 see-through umbrellas still let the light through and make for fab couples shots in the rain.
Whatever the weather, we’ve got a plan to make sure you have the most special day ☺️

When I heard Lucy & Tom had asked the wonderful Sophie from to do a broken arch for the church I knew it would be stunning. The wonderful thing about this was that Sophie moved the flowers back to the barns to frame the top table so they could be enjoyed all day!

Let’s talk favours! There are so many amazing ideas to choose from; edible treats, charity badges, scratch cards, flowers, packets of seeds, shots of alcohol and those with personal touches.
What you want from your wedding favour is something your guests will enjoy on the day or want to take home - it’s a shame, but sometimes it does happen that a lot of favours are left behind.
Jen’s favourite wedding favours: packets of seeds to plant at home. A lovely lasting memory of a special day!
Kirsty’s favourite wedding favours: charity badges or something delicious like the cake pop in the picture!
Why not share your ideas and comment below what you had/are having as your favours? ❤️ (or maybe you’re not having any at all! Remember, they’re a lovely bonus for your guests but not a necessity)

Hello! 👋
Some of you may have already met Kirsty but we thought we would pop on a little post introducing our new Wedding Venue Coordinator!
We asked Kirsty a few questions to help you get to know her a little better…
What do you bring to the team?
I’m bubbly, good fun and full of energy! (Most of the time…I do have young children! 🥱) On the flip side of that, I also love a good “to do” list and to be very organised, which you definitely need for this role. I’m getting married myself in April 2024, so I’m also a bride-to-be, going through a lot of the same process as our couples.
What’s your favourite part of the day?
I love the nervous/excited energy right before the ceremony; the groom and his groomsmen are arriving, the guests are excited and of course, that “deep breath” moment right before the bride walks down the aisle! 😍
I’m pretty soppy when it comes to love and weddings, so even though I may have only met a couple a few times before their wedding, I’m likely to be having a moment during the first dance 😅
What’s your favourite canapé?
I really love seeing a little mini version of a main meal…mini fish and chips, mini Yorkshire puddings and beef and things like that. As you can tell…I’m not very high end with my canapé choice but they are crowd pleasers!
Our 2023/2024 couples will all be meeting Kirsty soon and she can’t wait to meet you.

Obviously the best tip I have is to ask to make you this.....but asides from that the things I advise couples with cakes are:
1. Cake knife - ask your caterer if they bring a knife or you need to bring one.
2. Cake cutting - ask your caterer to cut and serve your cake, it'll mean your guests can actually eat it!
3. Cake left overs - remember to let your caterer know what you want doing with any cake left over - either leave some clingfilm or a box for them to pop any spare in so you can enjoy it or give to family the next day!

Before the tasting we'll ask you a few questions to get an idea of what you want at your wedding then when you're here you'll get to try different wines and cocktails so Yorkshire Bartender can tailor your drinks to your day.

There's a lot of things to decide when you're getting married and one of them is the actual marriage part! Here at Lodge Farm there's three different options:
1. Civil Ceremony - registrars from North Yorkshire Council will come and marry you in our ceremony barn.
2. Celebrant Service - a celebrant will create a bespoke service for you in our barns, and you'll do the legal side the day before in a registry office
3. Church Wedding - a vicar will legally marry you in your local church or our next door one.

When I'm having planning meetings with couples they often say to me
"Jen, do you think its ok to....."
And the answer is nearly always YES!
If you want to walk round all the tables when you're announced for your wedding breakfast go for it.
If you want to have Colin & Connie for your wedding cake then do that.
If you want to have a groom and mother-of-the-groom dance to the cha-cha slide do it!
Your wedding day is going to be the best day of your lives so make it about what you want to happen - these will be the bits you remember and the parts your guests talk about for years to come!

Couples often ask me what I do on your wedding day and the answer is all the logistics and co-ordination - from meeting the registrar to showing the taco van where to park. We've got it covered so you can relax and enjoy celebrating with your friends and family.

The day before your wedding contains my favourite part of your wedding - the rehearsal. It’s such a lovely time with friends and family, practising who’s going to walk where and when (or in the case of many bridesmaids, how to walk slowly without looking like a comedy sketch😂). I can see the excitement building for the couple and their friends and family, and the run through helps alleviate any stress or nerves about the logistics of the ceremony, so you can enjoy it without worrying about what point in the music you should start to walk down the aisle!

Here at Lodge Farm there’s three main ways to celebrate your wedding – civil ceremony, celebrant or church and today I wanted to talk about celebrants.
What is it?
A celebrant is a person who performs ceremonies at some of life’s biggest milestones, including weddings. A celebrant led wedding is very flexible in terms of what it involves (we’ve seen tree planting and ceremonial G&Ts!) but doesn’t constitute the legal side of marriage, which you’d need to do separately at the registry office.
What are the benefits?
Celebrants create bespoke and very personal services, involving things meaningful to you as a couple. A celebrant will get to know you and your story and be able to communicate and celebrate this with your guests – there’s usually a lot of laughter as well as some tears in a celebrants service! A celebrant will also usually hold a rehearsal the day before, meaning you’re more relaxed on the day of the wedding.
Are there any drawbacks?
A celebrant can’t legally marry you so many couples choose to go to the registry office to complete the legal side the day before.
Any top tips for a civil ceremony?
Take your time researching different celebrants – they all have different styles and personalities and you’ll want to choose one who fits you well as a couple.
