We're only 40% self-sufficient when it comes to pork in this country.

The remaining 60% has to be imported from other countries where pig farming standards are simply not as high as they are here.

We'll become even less self-sufficient if pig farmers keep going out of business as they are at the moment. Support British pig farmers by looking for the British flag when buying pork, sausages, bacon and ham.

More than 90% British pigs come from assured farms.

Assured farms are visited 4x a year by a vet who checks the health and welfare of the pigs.

They are also visited at least once a year by an inspector who checks they are up to standard.
