Speaking to People
I was 14. Or is it 15. We formed a new club in ADISCO - an all boys college and i was voted as Secretary. For our very first event, the inauguration, i was voluntold to be the MC. The invited schools included Mfantsiman, Holy Child and Wesley Girls - three all girls colleges. I started just okay until the girls arrived. I sweated bullets. But i survived with no embarrassing horror stories to go around.
Fast forward... 5 years after. I was in Uni. I joined the Literary Wing of IHCF the previous year. I was nominated as Organizing Secretary so i had to stand in front of the group to divi-up the tasks that needed to be accomplished. I had to act/speak/dance in front of various crowds for our ministrations. I was not exactly shy but to stand up in front of a crowd and speak is not mean task. I still pulled through even more confident.
Quick pace a little over 10 years forward. My friends were getting married to each other. I asked how i could help and they gave me the role of MC. I had never MCed a wedding reception before but i mustered all the courage i could come up with and tackled the task head on. Pst How difficult could it be? It couldn’t be anymore difficult than acting in a drama. Plus I was a more confident person now. The rest, they say, is history!
