ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Dimitris Ventourakis - Keyboards
Dimitris Ventourakis is a musician and educator who explores the narrative power of sound. A pianist at heart, he is equally versed in improvisation, composition, live and recorded music—as an instrumentalist, vocalist, solo artist, or band member.
His work investigates the links between language and music, focusing on their shared expressive depth. Based in Athens, he is active in the city’s music, theatre, and arts scenes, and also teaches music. He co-founded the Athens Arts Collective, a non-profit supporting artistic creation, education, and research.
Ventourakis holds degrees in Musicology (Ethnomusicology and Music Anthropology), music theory, classical piano, jazz performance, and composition. He has also studied various ensemble practices, both improvisational and structured.
His current solo project blends improvisation and songwriting as parallel storytelling forms. Using voice and piano, he crafts pieces shaped by influences ranging from goth folk and avant-garde jazz to rock, classical, and experimental noise.
Maya Aghniadis (Flugen) - Keyboards/Electronics
Flugen is the musical project of Maya Aghniadis, a Lebanese-raised, Athens-based composer and multi-instrumentalist. Her work explores the intersection of rhythm, melody, and atmosphere, blending percussive beats, soulful motifs, and vocal harmonies with neo-classical and ambient textures.
Deeply collaborative and anchored in the Mediterranean, her practice builds bridges between ancient and contemporary soundscapes, reflecting the layered cultural identity of the region.
Through Flugen, Maya crafts immersive experiences that transcend genre, inviting listeners into a space where memory, place, and experimentation coexist.
