What is the difference between Salsa & Son…???

Strictly Musically speaking:
So, musically speaking what is the difference between Son and Timba (Cuban Salsa)???That’s an open question, and there are many different opinions regarding it. One opinion in particular claimed that there is no difference!!! According to some, Timba is just one of a few versions of Son – essentially it is Son.

And now in terms that dancers speak:
In Son many dance elements are done in closed position – the closed position just tends to be much more robust and interesting. Additionally, in closed position each step has importance, and a good Son dance often reflects the music and the atmosphere of the dance with a single step. A single step forward creates a feeling of flirtation, and a simple break step is as strong as thunder.

Second, the elements tend to be simple in Son. The complexity of Salsa’s knots does not befits the elegance of the music nor the intention of courtship. Instead each element is rather simple and is done with the utmost intention. An open hand after a Dile Que No is a formal invitation. Walking the woman around is “opening the door” for the lady to pass.

ΠΑΓΚΟΣΜΙΟ ΡΕΚΟΡ GUINNESS
Την 1η Ιουνίου 2014, στην πλατεία Αριστοτέλους στη Θεσσαλονίκη, 1102 χορευτές συγκεντρώθηκαν για να σπάσουν το παγκόσμιο ρεκόρ Guinness του μεγαλύτερου Rueda de Casino (Ρουέδα Ντέ Καζίνο).
Οι Χορευτές και οι χορεύτριες “Σάλσα” από διάφορες σχολές χορού και από αρκετές πόλεις της Ελλάδος με πολύ κέφι και όρεξη, συμμετείχαν και στις τρεις δοκιμαστικές πρόβες, που έγιναν στη Θεσσαλονίκη, συμβάλλοντας να δημιουργηθεί μια ομάδα 1.102 Ελλήνων χορευτών, που χόρεψαν για 7 λεπτά και 16 δευτερόλεπτα, “Σάλσα Ρουέδα Ντε Καζίνο”.
Και μαντέψτε τι ...... το έκαναν !!!!
Κατάφεραν τελικά την 1η Ιουνίου 2014, στη μεγάλη τους παράσταση, να χορέψουν για 7:16 λεπτά, όλα συγχρονισμένα με το ρυθμό της Salsa και να καταρρίψουν το προηγούμενο ρεκόρ των Ιταλών με τους 780 χορευτές και τα 5 λεπτά χορού.
Συγχαρητήρια σε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες, που το έκαναν πραγματικότητα !!!
Η εκδήλωση είχε και φιλανθρωπικό χαρακτήρα, καθώς τα χρήματα που συγκεντρώθηκαν από τις συμμετοχές (5 ευρώ για τον κάθε χορευτή), προσφέρθηκαν για ενίσχυση του έργου του Συλλόγου “Ελπίδα για το παιδί”.
