🫒 All good things come to an end. One day, we wake up, and the Olive Harvest Retreat has wrapped up.

The laughter and conversations fade; the farm is quieter.
No more busy kitchens, shared meals, or stories over wine with these incredible people.

The day feels empty—but our hearts are full, rich with new friendships and memories.

Once again, the olive trees worked their magic, drawing us together. They’ve rooted friendships, let personalities blossom, and brought us a harvest of love and gratitude.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be posting about the journey of the olive, from tree to mill, and then transformed into healthy food, natural soap, and infused oils for massage.

✅ Both of our sessions are completely sold out, with people from around the world that chose to reconnect with nature and their food.

Meet Maddy! 🐾

She literally showed up last week with her collar... and her favorite BALL! Now, she’s obsessed with it and showing off her pro-level skills.

Leo, one of our awesome volunteers, is hooked on playing fetch and snapping pics of her action shots.

But wait for it...
Yesterday, as Leo was capturing Maddy’s best moments, Lucky (our other queen of the farm) comes running in, photobombing like a pro. 🐕

Now it’s a battle of cuteness as both girls vie for Natascha’s attention – another superstar volunteer (back for the third time in two years!) who adopted these two charmers: Lucky in April and Maddy just last week.

Proof that Eumelia is pure paradise for pets too! 🐶

Why do Greeks fly kites on Ash Monday? Well, among the many traditions in Greece, flying kites is a big one, especially amongst children. So, on Ash Monday (known as Kathara Deftera in Greek), you'll see the Greek skies decked out with kites, along with picnics happening both in the city and out in the countryside. It's all because this tradition marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period where Orthodox Christians fast and get ready for Easter. Flying kites on this day symbolizes a spiritual connection, a way of seeking God's presence. Despite the deep religious background, the day itself is not somber at all! Upgrade your snacking with this 4 ingredient ancient Greek treat: “Pasteli” or sesame and honey bars! At eumelia, it is our go-to snack when we have a full day ahead! Packed with the goodness of sesame seeds, honey and nuts, these bars are a powerhouse of nutrients. Rich in antioxidants, fibre, and healthy fats, Pasteli keeps us going, supports our heart health, and boosts our overall well-being, not to mention it tastes like heaven. 👉 Fun fact: Did you know pasteli is first mentioned by Homer in the Odyssey and the Iliad? Called “itrion” (ίτριον) it was used to give energy to the Greek warriors during the Trojan War. After Homeric times, it was a common meal amongst Spartans before battle, while Olympian athletes used it to boost their performance! Best part? It’s just so easy to make! ✅️ Ingredients: • 500gr sesame seeds • 1 cup of sugar • ½ cup nuts of your preference (e.g., almonds, walnuts, pistachios), chopped • 2tbsp honey ✅️ Instructions: • In a medium pot, add the sesame seeds, the sugar, and the nuts over medium heat • Mix well, stirring, until sugar melts. • Add the honey and mix well to combine • Pour the mixture onto a parchment-line tray, flatten, and cut into bars while warm. • Cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
