HKUST, Shaw Auditorium Home to HKUST’s cultural activities and a new landmark for large-scale events.

The Shaw Auditorium is home to HKUST's cultural activities and a new landmark for large scale events, providing new flexibilities and possibilities to create a vibrant arts and cultural scene at the University. Established in 2021, the venue serves as a multi-purpose auditorium with a seating capacity of around 850 for concerts and over 1,300 in flat floor configurations, the venue can be used to

host different kinds of events such as concerts, theater performances, lectures, exhibitions, and ceremonies. There are also supporting facilities offering space for seminars, rehearsals, small-scale performances, and gatherings both indoors and outdoors. We would like to sincerely thank the Shaw Foundation Hong Kong Limited’s generous HK$150 million donation which has made possible this impressive outcome before our eyes.

This workshop takes you through six lessons in the world of Gongbi painting —a traditional Chinese art form known for its fine lines and delicate colors, led by instructor Ms. Katrina Mo (巫墨筆歡).

It also integrates the artistic spirit of Chen Hongshou (陳洪綬) —a Ming dynasty master who emphasized “maintaining correctness through uniqueness”—you’ll not only learn painting skills, but also experience the wisdom, emotion, and aesthetics embedded in traditional Chinese art. ✨

楊雲濤先生MH
▸畢業於中央民族學院（今中央民族大學）舞蹈系，2002年加入香港舞蹈團擔任首席舞蹈員，2007年出任助理藝術總監，2013年出任藝術總監

▸2013-2023年間，憑編導作品《蘭亭．祭姪》、《紫玉成煙》、《凝》、《一個人的哪吒》等榮獲多個香港舞蹈年獎編舞及製作獎項

▸「中國舞蹈與中國武術之交互研究與成果呈現計劃」主導者

▸獲頒發香港藝術發展獎2009「年度最佳藝術家獎 (舞蹈)」；2023年獲香港特別行政區政府行政長官頒授榮譽勳章

𝐘𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐨, 𝐌𝐇
▸Graduated from the Dance Faculty of Minzu University of China, Yang joined Hong Kong Dance Company as Principal Dancer in 2002. He was appointed as Assistant Artistic Director in 2007 and promoted to Artistic Director in 2013.

▸Winner of many awards for outstanding choreographies and productions presented by Hong Kong Dance Awards between 2013 and 2023

▸Leader of a three-year interdisciplinary research study on Chinese dance and Chinese martial arts traditions

▸Yang was named the Best Artist (Dance) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2009. In 2023, he was awarded the Medal of Honour by the Chief Executive of the Government of HKSAR
