s. The company has four teaching professionals on its register and all instruction is based on the Iain Roberts Golf Teaching Manual Method. Lessons are given to male and female players of all ages and abilities, from beginners to elite professionals. In particular, the company’s junior programmes are designed to promote the game to youngsters so they can enjoy learning in a safe and fun environment. The Iain Roberts Golf School was based at the Hong Kong Golf Club from 1995 to 2009 before moving to its three locations, the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Clubhouse in Shan Kwong Road, Happy Valley, . The Golf School also has an operation since 2009 at Garden Farm Golf Centre HK and The Aberdeen Marina Club. The owner and operator of Iain Roberts Golf Ltd is Iain Roberts, one of the most respected figures in Asian golf in his multiple roles as player, coach, retailer, administrator and senior executive. He is also the author of two acclaimed books, “My Golf Teaching Manual” and “The Busy Golfer”. Iain’s outstanding contribution to golf was given the ultimate recognition in 2015 when the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland awarded him Master Professional – a rare honour that has been granted to less than 40 of the organisation’s 7,500 members.
Congratulations to Iain on receiving a commemorative money clip and certificate from the Professional Golfers’ Association to mark his 40 years as a member. Iain is also one of a select handful in the organisation to attain the status of PGA Master Professional – a tribute to his dedication and expertise across four decades in the game.
Huge congratulations to Iain’s son Ollie Roberts on his victory in the Tartan Pro Tour’s season-ending Carnoustie Tour Championship yesterday. Ollie prevailed by one shot from Fraser McKenna in wet and windy conditions at the famous Scottish course. Paul Lawrie, Open Championship winner at Carnoustie in 1999 and owner of the Tartan Pro Tour, was waiting greenside to say well done. Says Iain: “I’m delighted for Ollie as he’s been working really hard on his game. Carnoustie is difficult enough in good weather, it’s an absolute beast in those conditions, so to shoot one-under in the final round is a fantastic effort.”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Jacobs at the age of 91. A two time Ryder Cup captain and player and the founding father of the European Tour and modern golf coaching. He was a great communicator and a charming and kind man. There is not a golf coach that does not owe him something. His legacy will continue to help golfers of all standards around the world. RIP Mr Jacobs.
