🌉✨ Chain Bridge: Another Icon of Budapest! ✨🌉
Did you know the Széchenyi Chain Bridge was the first permanent bridge to connect Buda and Pest? Built in 1849, it was a true marvel of its time, symbolizing unity and progress. 💫
🎉 Fun Facts You Can’t Miss:
• The lion statues guarding the bridge? 🦁 Legend says the sculptor forgot to give them tongues! (Don’t worry, they actually have them 😉)
• During WWII, the bridge was destroyed, but it was beautifully rebuilt by 1949—marking its 100th anniversary! 🛠️
• Walk across it for stunning views of the Danube, Parliament, and Castle Hill—it’s breathtaking at any time of day! 🌅

👨🏫A Short History of Gellért Hill & the Citadel
Named after Saint Gerard (Gellért), a bishop martyred by being rolled down the hill in a barrel, the hill has been a symbol of strength and spirituality for centuries. The Citadel, a fortress built in 1851 by the Habsburgs, was meant to intimidate the city after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848.
