About the owner
Des Goldrick fell in love with Carlingford during a visit with his partner, Sharon, back in 2006. It had such an impact on them, they discussed the idea of relocating from Dublin. The passion for Carlingford never faded and they decided to get married in Ghan House and make a plan to move to the Cooley Peninsula.
Sharon was fortunate enough to get a job in the local secondary school on the Peninsula and Des set up a recruitment business. They built a family home in Jenkinstown where they live their two boys, and two dogs.
Des' desire to set up a craft brewery started many years ago when he worked in a bar whilst studying. He loved the culture of the bar trade and was drawn to beers with more flavour. In the back of his head he had an ambition to run his own brewery and produce his own beer. Beer that he could be proud of, that he would drink and he knew other people would enjoy.
Carlingford Brewing Co. was set up in 2015 and has been brewing out of Riverstown since July 2016. Des has been building a roster of classic style beers as well as some very interesting seasonal and limited editions. He uses the very best ingredients and processes.
