Music West is a local voluntary community organisation, focused on education, participation and enjoyment of music in Mayo. We believe that music should be open to all and by bringing together music ensembles in Mayo to share music, skills and education. We provide affordable music tuition to encourage participation by people of any ability. Classes and instruments are provided at affordable or su

bsidised rents. Our classes run weekly and we can facilitate musicians ranging from novice beginners (children and adult) to experienced players who wish to add to their knowledge. Our tuition ranges from percussion and piano to wind, brass and stringed instruments. Music West also operates a number of musical ensembles which perform regularly and has affiliations with a wide range of other groups and ensembles. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced musician or a musician that hasn’t played in years we have the facilities to connect you with music in Mayo. We are based in our new state of the art purpose built premises in the Music West building in the Castlebar Business Park on the Breaffy Road. This building has a variety of rehearsal spaces available to rent for practice and rehearsal and other community activities. Join Mayo Concert Orchestra for an unforgettable evening celebrating the world’s most iconic film music, performed by a full 60-piece orchestra and a 40-voice choir.

Together, under the musical direction of Kathy Fahey on her 10th anniversary with the orchestra, they will bring to life the sweeping soundtracks of Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, and John Williams—three legendary composers whose music has defined generations of cinema.

David Agnew joined Anne Marie Gibbons on 'In The Spotlight' ahead of a concert with his daughter Chloe, the Vocalessence Ladies Choir and the Mayo Concert Orchestra this Sunday 30th November at 8pm in St. Anne's Church Belcarra.

Westport Jazz are bringing something special to round off their resoundingly beautiful year of jazz in their wonderful part of Mayo!

Westport Jazz are teaming up with the spirited, twenty-strong Music West Big Band to invite you to a festive celebration of jazz, song, dance and joy!

Warm your hearts, bring family, dance partners and friends and enjoy getting dressed up to the nines, whilst helping raise funds for FOCUS Ireland with donations welcome and be there to share and truly swing into Christmas!

Join the Music West Big Band & Westport Jazz for an early evening dancing to smooth jazz & fabulous Christmas tunes on Sunday 7th December in the Velvet Room at the TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar.

We had a very busy but enjoyable day today at Music West. Visiting were Donegal Youth Orchestra and Coole Music joined our own Mayo Youth Orchestra as preparation for their joint performance at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, Ireland in February ‘26. It sounded fab already! 🎶

Great turnout at Music West, Castlebar, today for the Tri Orchestra rehearsal hosted by Mayo Youth Orchestra - 85 musicians and an amazing sound.
