Music West is a local voluntary community organisation, focused on education, participation and enjoyment of music in Mayo. We believe that music should be open to all and by bringing together music ensembles in Mayo to share music, skills and education. We provide affordable music tuition to encourage participation by people of any ability. Classes and instruments are provided at affordable or su

bsidised rents. Our classes run weekly and we can facilitate musicians ranging from novice beginners (children and adult) to experienced players who wish to add to their knowledge. Our tuition ranges from percussion and piano to wind, brass and stringed instruments. Music West also operates a number of musical ensembles which perform regularly and has affiliations with a wide range of other groups and ensembles. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced musician or a musician that hasn’t played in years we have the facilities to connect you with music in Mayo. We are based in our new state of the art purpose built premises in the Music West building in the Castlebar Business Park on the Breaffy Road. This building has a variety of rehearsal spaces available to rent for practice and rehearsal and other community activities. Today the High Flyers played for the residents of the McBride's Nursing Home in Westport!
It's always a delight to play in these community settings and make the afternoon/evening brighter! McBrides celebrate their 50th Anniversay this year and it was a pleasure to mark the occasion with an orchestral performance. Thankyou to the staff and residents for their warm welcome and hospitality.

High Flyers welcome musicians over 16 years who enjoy playing classical and easy listening music on orchestral instruments. Rehearsals are on Fridays 7.15-9pm at Music West, Castlebar. For more information contact [email protected]

Anastasia Baloban is a talented young pianist from Ukraine, Colette O’Haire is a singer songwriter who has lived in Argentina for the past 20 years. She has a published album called ‘Alma Negra Chemistry ‘.
Together they will perform songs of Amy Winehouse as well as original songs and exciting piano instrumentals.
This will be the first performance with our baby grand piano in the upstairs space

Like your jazz and Big Band? This might be for you. 🎶 🎺 🎷

Do you play trumpet, trombone or saxophone & are looking for somewhere new & interesting to play?

The Music West Big Band may be just the band for you. We play music that ranges from Glenn Miller right through to the present day via musicians such as Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Caro Emerald & The Commitments.

We currently have vacancies in all of the horn sections plus we still are looking a guitarist.
We are based at Music West in Castlebar & rehearse Sunday mornings 10 to 12. We don't hold auditions, just get in touch & come along to a rehearsal to see if it's for you, play a few tunes & meet the band.

Mayo Culture Night will feature ensembles based at Music West, Castlebar, performing at The Linenhall Arts Centre from 7pm onwards. Come and enjoy for free orchestral, band, choral and Big Band music throughout the evening.
