A fantastic weekend at Anglesey Circuit / Trac Môn with Ian Beatty, Sharon Beatty and the Siltex Safety Fiesta Zetec Championship, Alloy Repair Centre Fiesta ST Championship and the Patch Tyre Equipment ICCR Junior MINI Challenge on tour! Great racing, great fun and apparently the commentary wasn’t too bad either!

A brilliant first Irish Championship Circuit Racing weekend at Mondello Park! Our Championship Race Centre was flat out all weekend- thanks to Róisín Sweeney, Niamh Crilly and of course the irreplaceable Neil Murphy for all of their hard work. Great job by Ian at Fish Graphics for our Race Centre rebrand and all of our Championship numbers and decals and to PJ Wallace Cycles & Trophies for the beautiful trophies.

End of another busy week. We had Róisín Sweeney out in the Global GT Lights car at Mondello Park on Wednesday and then Thursday and Friday it was off to Autosport International Show in Birmingham to announce Nicole Drought Racing’s 2024 plans. She will race in the MSV Trackday Trophy and Trackday Championship with Justin Roberts in the EBC Brakes Racing Motion Motorsport Civic Type R. It was great to have the car on display at the show too.
Just a week to go now to our Night of Champions in the Naas Court Hotel where we will crown the champions in 5 race classes and the Irish Rallycross Championship too! Saturday 20th January, Naas Court Hotel from 7:30pm. Live music, finger food, Spade Magician and much more. No cover charge and all are welcome!

We have an exclusive Patch Tyre Equipment ICCR Junior MINI Challenge test and Information Day this Friday at Mondello Park. Thanks to support from Patch and Mondello Park, this test is free of charge for registered drivers. The test will run on the National Circuit from 11:30am to 3pm.
If you are interested in racing with us on 2024, then drop in and say hi- we will show you around a car and explain what you need to do to get on the grid.

I was shocked to be announced as the inaugural winner of the Mick Merrigan Memorial Trophy at the Motorsport Ireland Awards Lunch yesterday I’m very proud and would like to thank the Merrigan family, John Naylor and everyone else who was involved.

The Mick Merrigan Memorial Award

1. The Mick Merrigan Memorial Award represents and celebrates ‘the Spirit of Irish Motorsport’. It is awarded to ‘a person who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, epitomises the spirit of professionalism and integrity, and inspires others through their enthusiasm and dedication to Irish Motorsport, as evidenced during the past year or over a number of years’.

2. It is the intention that the winner of this award is currently (or formerly) a citizen of the island of Ireland and has participated in Irish Motorsport as a driver, competitor, mentor, team manager/owner, mechanic/engineer, commentator, marshal, track team, or race official.

3. The Selection Committee shall consist of the Chairperson of the Race Commission of Motorsport Ireland; a representative of Mondello Park; a member of the Merrigan family, and the inaugural winner of this award. The family may also nominate honorary member/s of the Selection Committee and have nominated John Naylor in this regard.

4. The Chair of the Selection Committee shall be agreed by the committee members each year. The Chair will convene a meeting annually in order to nominate, discuss and select a worthy recipient of this perpetual award.

5. The Mick Merrigan Memorial Award will be presented to the winner at the Motorsport Ireland Champions of Irish Motorsport Awards event held in December each year.

6. The award is presented annually in memory of Mick Merrigan (1948 - 2022), who generously shared his wisdom and enthusiasm with a new generation of Irish drivers, and epitomised the spirit of Irish Motorsport, as a driver, champion, mentor, team manager, ambassador and friend.

Is your fleet performing at its best? At Mondello Park, we can conduct road safety courses, vehicle checks, driver training, both on track and on our state of the art simulators.

Examples of practical aspects of the driver courses are:

On-Road Awareness Training – includes potential hazards strategically positioned around the 3.5km track

Distracted Driving Training – includes brake reaction testing skills

Driver Smoothness Training

Load Bearing Training – includes using our Virtual Driving Academy to simulate the differences loads can make to all vehicles

Inclement Weather Training – using our Virtual Race Academy to simulate the difference different weather conditions can make

Vehicle Assessment Checks – training makes little difference if your vehicle isn’t properly cared for. Drivers, not just fleet managers, have a responsibility to look after their vehicle. This includes maintaining correct tyre pressures, checking thread depth, and checking coolant, oil and windscreen washer levels.

We also have full conferencing and catering facilities for up to 200 people.
