Our Goal With PCPSI The vision of PCPSI is to invite leaders from the related fields of Attachment, Trauma,Addiction and Neuroscience to Ireland, so that we, as trained counsellors, psychotherapists and students can benefit from internationally recognised trainers, authors and practitioners. Through our annual seminars, we hope that experts from these disciplines can provide participants with greater awareness of addiction issues and the effects of traumatic stress on children, adolescents and adults. With this knowledge, it is envisaged that we, as a collective, can learn and develop as professionals and eventually integrate these new approaches into our own work, enhancing our capacity to be more compassionate, thoughtful and competent caregivers. Ultimately, PCPSI wants to be recognised as providers of high quality, professional seminars so that we can all develop and improve as practising counsellors. The objective of our seminar series is as follows: ATTRACT THE VERY BEST To invite internationally recognised trainers, authors and practitioners to Ireland, to provide engaging and thought-provoking seminars on current developments in Trauma PROMOTE To establish a greater awareness of the effects of traumatic stress on adults, adolescents and children. It is hoped that collectively engaging with such issues at the seminars will affect the way we approach these issues in the future. INFLUENCE Through these high quality seminars, it is hoped that dialogue begins on how the impact of traumatic experiences is explored and studied in Ireland CONTRIBUTE It is our vision to contribute, in some way, to the wealth of knowledge that already exists in the fields of Attachment, Trauma,Addiction and Neuroscience in Ireland. COMMUNITY As a result of the seminars, it is hoped that a network or working-group of practitioners is established, so that we can remain up-to-date on current developments in our fields. ELIMINATE HIGH TRAVEL COSTS By hosting high quality seminars in Ireland, students and professional counsellors and psychologists receive high quality training from leading international figures, without the expensive travel costs.
