Did you know Proteas are among the oldest families of flowers on earth, dating back 300 million years? Greek legend tell us the god Proteus, the son of Poseidon, had the ability to change and transform himself as he pleased. He could be one shape and then change into a completely different one soon afterward. Proteas received their name after him, as they have had the ability to transform themselves throughout their evolutionary path. They symbolize diversity because their flowers come in different shapes and forms + they symbolize strength as they can thrive in extreme geographical areas and can endure harsh weather conditions. π·ππΈ
