The part of Music at the Gate that encourages and welcomes people to the stage to sing a song, dance a jig rather play a tune is one of the most enjoyable parts of the day. Music at the gate is split into two events. A bit like in previous years. Both events are free to attend. The evening event from 6:30pm to 9pm features a list of local groups and musicians. back to back to provide you with a super night of entertainment. The afternoon event from 12pm to 3pm is an energetic run of top class groups from Louth, Meath and Dublin. But with the addition of you. Play an instrument or sing a song? Join in with the afternoon event. Strut your stuff in front of this iconic landdmark at the heart of Drogheda. More to be announced soon.

Close to a thousand people enjoyed the music from Dabilla yesterday after the St. Patrick's day parade in Drogheda. What a thrill it was!

🎶 🎶 We have a unique evening of music  for everyone this Sunday in Peggys.. Join "Dabilla" from 6pm and witness your favourite songs performed through Uilleann Pipes and Whistles by Darragh & Oisin.

Two Drogheda musicians have teamed up to create this new group. Dabilla is the name. Interesting little fact. Dabilla was the name of the little dog owned by Boann, the mithical godess who created the Boyne. Dabilla have entertained several times a week in Dublin for over a year now. It would be great to give them some home support as their social media profiles are very new.

Happy Anniversary to all our teachers, students and supportive friends, family and venues An Táin Arts Centre and The Barbican Centre Drogheda.

From our very first recital to Music At The Gate Showman Camp, MusicAcrossCultures, First Fortnight, busking at the Fleadh Cheoil , collaboration with Basement Sounds, An Táin Arts Centre Anaverna Show, Irish National Opera, Louth Library Service, Strings Programme, Funds4Ukraine, and much more, it was clear our students were going places! 🎶

We've grown (ha!) from 4 teachers to 11, offering Piano, Guitar, Violin, Voice, Cello, Drums, Ukulele, Fiddle, Banjo, Music Theory, Leaving Cert, Choir, Chamber Music and Band. Students attend lessons from beyond Newry all the way to Co. Wicklow and even remotely in California! 🎤

Here's to another fabulous year of music making.🏆

Drogheda has claim to some really crucial parts of Irish culture. This talk and music on Saturday morning highlights one more aspect.

From the Drogheda Leader a piece on the upcoming talk on Drogheda uilleann piper and master ploughman Pat Ward who resided close to the Black Bull is imortalised in the wonderful portrait, by the mural artist Ciarán Dunleavy, on the forecourt wall of the Augustinian Church, Shop St.

As part of the Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend, a free talk on the famous local piper Patrick Ward will take place at 11am at Drogheda Library.

With contributors community historian Brendan Matthews, archivest from Na Píobairí Uilleann Emmett Gill and uilleann piper Darragh Ó Héiligh the talk will be followed by some of his favourite tunes.

For all the younger players, this session on Saturday is going to be at a relaxed pace and very welcoming to young musicians at all levels.

As part of this year's Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend, a Youth Session will take place on Saturday afternoon in Droichead Arts Centre Cafe Bar, Stockwell Street from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, facilitated by Áine and Bríd Dunne.
All young players are welcome.
