Starting our guide How to Host a Virtual Conference, the first topic we will be covering is Event Formats.
Just like any in-person event, a virtual event requires just as much planning to successfully get your message across and achieve your goals. Starting with the format, from live tutorials and classes to webinars, interviews and one-to-many conferences, there are many options to choose from. But not all of them may work for you and your business. Let's talk about three of them now.
1️⃣ Webinar
A Webinar is an online seminar or video workshop, and it comes from the combination of the words "web" and "seminar". Webinars are typically held in real-time where a host shares their screen while going through the topics. Attendees can ask questions using a chatbox feature, and the host can answer them on the go or wait until the end of the presentation. Webinar sessions are great to share knowledge, demonstrate a product and build authority around a brand.
2️⃣ Web Conference
In comparison to Webinars, a Virtual Conference has a more complex agenda that includes keynotes, sessions and breakouts. This format allows attendees to interact with each other, share content and view keynotes in real-time. Control of the session can be passed among users, so each of them can share their files and ideas.
3️⃣ Webcast
A Webcast is an online broadcast of a recorded presentation. One or more people lead the viewers through the presentation using audio, video and slides. Webcasts are one-way only, from speaker to audience. They are not time-constrained so they can be viewed over multiple times on demand.
