U.S. pianist Bill Carrothers continues to raise the bar of jazz piano playing internationally, having recorded, and performed with luminaries such as Gary Peacock, Billy Higgins, Dave Douglas, and Curtis Fuller. He has performed sell-out residencies at the prestigious NYC jazz club The Village Vanguard as well as being nominated for a French Gramophone Award for his solo album release, Excelsior, which is a collection of improvised piano pieces.

We are delighted that he will be joining us as part of the Newpark Masterclass Series this November. This is an evening not to be missed, with limited tickets still available. See details below.

🎷Join our New Wind Ensemble 🎷Open to musicians who play the flute, clarinet, saxophone & recorder and want to perform in an ensemble. Creating a fun environment for students to learn and perform pieces.

For students aged between 7-14 of Grade 1-5 Standard. There will be an emphasis on input from the players to make for a collaborative environment. Conducted by Fintan Jones.

Weekly Rehearsals take place in Newpark Academy of Music on Tuesdays at 4:30pm - 5.30pm. As with all our choirs & ensembles you do not have to be receiving individual lessons in Newpark to participate.

🎷Taught by the talented tenor & soprano saxophonist, Daniel Rorke 👇, this exciting new Jazz Harmony & Composition course is starting this September 18th. Spaces are limited, so enquire with us today.

During this course students will learn to identify and modify chord progressions, writing melodies, arranging parts for a small ensemble, analysis of Jazz Composition and deepen their understanding of jazz music's inner workings.

Course Tutor Daniel Rorke holds a bachelor’s Degree in jazz performance with first class honours from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he completed his master’s in jazz performance at NTNU Jazzlinja in Norway and has a PhD in music from the University of New England. Boasting a varied performance career, he has worked with cutting edge European and American Jazz musicians and performed at notable concerts, festivals and clubs around the world. He has won many awards including Icelandic Jazz Album of The Year in 2005. In 2019 He was granted a US Exceptional Alien Visa to participate in recordings, performances, and educational activities in New York. He has taught Music at Syracuse University, New York, where he instructed in Jazz and other creative music. He is currently a Lecturer in Jazz at Dublin City University.

The Newpark Youth Choir starts back this coming Tuesday the 5th September @5:30-6:30pm with some spaces still available. The youth choir is aimed at young singers and instrumentalists & offers students a chance to develop their musicianship and vocal technique through group singing in a fun and engaging environment. We strongly encourage students to take part in at least one ensemble. No choral experience is required, the youth choir is for students aged 8-14 years old.

Conducted by Mary Walsh. Mary is a Dublin-based conductor who has completed an MA in Conducting and a BMus degree in the MTU Cork School of Music. Mary’s professional work lies primarily in conducting. Where she is currently the conductor of a number of orchestras & choirs, including the Newpark Youth Choir.

The Newpark Youth Choir and all our ensembles are open to Newpark Academy of Music students & the wider Newpark community, you do not have to be receiving individual lessons in Newpark to participate in our ensembles. This is a practical-skills based course specifically tailored for guitarists who wish to take the next step with their improvised soloing and accompaniment skills. Applicants must have basic instrumental skills with a knowledge of chords/scales/arpeggios.
