Still delighted with this news from Sunday night!

We're in celebratory mood in IPPA HQ this morning after last night's very successful Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. The full list of winners and runners-up will be posted here shortly, but first... the Bank of Ireland IPPA Irish Professional Photographer of the Year for 2017 is Donal Murphy Photography.

Donal's breathtaking architectural images seriously impressed the international panel of 13 judges from Ireland, Slovakia, France, Portugal, Denmark, Germany, UK and the USA, and last night he was delighted to be named the overall winner.

Been working on a Blurb book of commercial interior work, which is due in the post today!! Slightly under wraps at the moment due to property releases, but I can't wait to get my hands on it. If it works as well as I think it should, a general architectural book will follow soon.

Driving back from a shoot in Sligo in desperate fog a year or two back, I had one of those "you really should turn the car around and shoot that" moments passing a flooded Lough Owel. The minimalist effect the fog had on the landscape created a bit of a Zen athmosphere, which is what came out in the images. Must get one of these on my wall...

FKP Architects publication on their new Student Centre at UCD has gone to print. It's a fantastic project, a wonderful book, and the 120 architectural photos by yours truly aren't bad either! E-book version available to view here.

The Student Centre is the new epicentre of social, academic and sporting life in UCD. And the result is in! Those wise old heads at the Federation of European Photographers finally had the good sense to award me the distinction of Master Qualified European Photographer!
I'm pretty happy about this - there's only 24 in Europe!
