Viva String Ensemble perform predominantly as a quartet, however singers, pianists and other instrumentalists often collaborate with them on request. The ensemble was formed by students of the Royal Irish Academy of Music and each member is experienced in the areas of solo, chamber and orchestral classical music. Viva have performed with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the RTE National Symphony Orchest
ra of Ireland, The National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, and are currently members of the Royal Irish Academy of Music Chamber and Symphony Orchestras. As members of these ensembles they have performed in Italy, Switzerland, Norway, the USA and as far afield as Japan and China. In November 2011 members of Viva played in Carnegie Hall and The Metropolitan Club as part of the RIAM Chamber Orchestra. At home in Ireland Viva’s musicians perform regularly at prestigious venues including The National Concert Hall, Christ Church Cathedral and The Helix. Recently members of the ensemble have performed main stage at Electric Picnic as part of Trinity Orchestra. In June 2011, Viva’s musicians appeared on the RTE show ‘Saturday Night with Miriam’ supporting the Louis Walsh managed band; Wonderland. Members of the group have also performed alongside several distinguished Irish rock bands including DeLorentoes and Republic of Loose. The ensemble also feature on the albums of Luke Slott, The Riptide Movement and The Aluskas. In 2012, Viva String Ensemble’s corporate event performances have included atmospheric classical entertainment for the Vice-President of China during his visit to Dublin. With a repertoire ranging from Bach to The Beatles, Viva String Ensemble is available to play at weddings, receptions and corporate events throughout Ireland.
