🚨WOOP! WOOP!🚨It’s the sound of DanceSoc’s most anticipated event yet—AUDITIONS 🗣️‼️💥 As per every year, we are holding auditions for our competitive crews to have new talented members 🥳

This year, we mainly have three crews open for auditions (and possibly more 👀)! These auditions will be held in Week 3 from September 23 to 26. If you’re interested in trying out for any crew, click the links in our bio or go to the crew’s respective link below to fill out the registration form:

Each crew have multiple audition sessions at different days and times, but you only need to attend ONE date—whichever fits you best.

Everyone is welcome to come to the auditions regardless of your skills! Apart from skill anyway, passion and commitment is really important in being part of the crews so we highly encourage you to do your best 🫶✨

If you have any questions about the auditions or the crews, we will be hosting an Audition Info Session on September 19, Thursday at 5:30 PM in the Blue Room.

In-depth details about crew work, rehearsals, etc. will be discussed by the choreographers and managers. If you cannot attend in-person, we will have the session livestreamed as an INSTAGRAM LIVE so no one will miss out ⚠️

UCD Dance Soc would like to express our full solidarity and support for the people of Palestine and for UCD BDS. We would like to take this opportunity to clearly condemn the genocide and colonisation faced by the Palestinian people. We stand with UCD BDS and call for their demands to be met; in particular that UCD divests from and cuts ties with Israeli institutions, condemns the genocide, calls for sanctions on Israel and an immediate and permanent ceasefire.

As UCD students we would like to recognise our privilege, as there are no universities left in Gaza. More than 6,000 Palestinian students have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank since October.

We would like to show our support and appreciation for our , and for , whose successful campaign has shown that student protest works!

We would like to take this opportunity to publicly commit to more meaningful actions in our next session. In particular, supporting Palestinian causes and culture.

Finally, we would like to call on other societies to do the same. To use their platform to publicly advocate for this cause. Societies play an important role in the UCD community, and they have a powerful voice. UCD students overwhelmingly support Palestine, so we would encourage other societies to reflect and amplify the views of their members. Take this opportunity to call on our university to do better!

DanceSoc’s Spring Showcase 🌸📸

Here’s a little look into our recent Spring Showcase; it was our last performance of the year and such a huge success !

We had some incredible performances from all our competive crews, as well as a routine from our beginner’s contemporary course, a sneak peak at the Tango Course, and a stunning performance from the K-pop cover group A1 !

As you may know, the showcase was in support of the Palestine Children Relief Fund, for which we raised roughly €1200 !! Huge thank you for your generous donations to such a good cause 🤍

With the end of the semester fast approaching, it’s only right that we reflect on a MEGA Dancesoc Slay from earlier this year; our competitive crews absolutely cleaning up at Inters 💅

If you need a reminder about how incredible they were,
our fab fusion team placed 1st in contemporary AND 2nd in jazz 🥳 The wonderful Irish Dancing Crew placed 3rd in their category, and the amazing hip-hop crew placed 2nd 🏆The competition was insanely talented and we are so so proud of our DanceSoc crews getting recognised for their hard work 🤩

Special shout outs to the contemporary crew’s manager Aisling and Choreographer Stella, The hip-hop crew’s manager Jannah and choreography manager Elisha, and the Irish Dance crew’s manager Amy and Co-Choreographers Cara and Catriona; they all went above and beyond 💗

Come celebrate their victories some more at the AGM on Wednesday 🥳

Hello everyone, who’s ready for week 10 !!
We have some seriously amazing classes in store for you (so in other words, business as usual 🥰)

We’re starting off strong on Monday with some Intermediate Irish Dance followed by Intermediate Contemporary with the lovely Stella ✨
Next up is a fabulous heels workshop with Georgia, and then we’re rounding off the week with a classic beginner hip hop class with Amaka 😍

Be sure to stop by our AGM this Wednesday, especially if you’re hoping to join the Dancesoc 14th Session Committee!! Don’t forget to get your applications in for auditor, treasurer, and secretary before then !!

Also huge thank you to everyone who came to the University Charity Dance-off and showed some support for all the amazing charities- it was such a pleasure to see you all there 💗

Happy Bank Holiday everyone, hope you’re nice and rested for week 9 !

As per usual we have some lovely classes lined up for you all, including a fabulous chairography workshop with Loredana that is not to be missed ! We also hope you’ll stop by Diego’s K-pop class, Kate’s beginner Irish Dance, and Alisha’s beginner jazz 👯‍♀️

It’s officially that time of the year; the Dancesoc 13th session is coming to an end, but we are so excited to open the floor for some new members to join our 14th session 🥳

We have had such a fabulous year from our success at Inters to the wonderful classes with you all every week, and are getting ready to welcome some new committee members to keep the fun going !

We’re opening up applications for Auditor, Treasurer, and Secretary; we have descriptions of all these roles in the link in our bio so you can see if these are the right jobs for you.

Joining our committee is a great chance to become involved with a lively society so please dont be afraid to throw your hat in the ring for a position (but also remember it requires a lot of dedication to helping the society run ) 💗

Get ready to be blown away by some of our fabulous dancers facing the challenge at the Redbull Dance Your Style Showcase 🔥

We’ve got 4 stunning dancers going up against some of the Redbull pros to show off their moves! And the best part ? YOU get to choose who wins !!! Come rally with us outside the student centre on Wednesday at 1pm, and cheer for whoever you think should win (100% us 😄)

Not that we’re trying to bribe you, but there will be plenty of free Redbull going around, so be sure to stop by !

Time flies when you’re having fun - and we’ve had so much with you guys this semester, we can’t believe it’s week 12 already 🤩

With study season kicking off (sorry to bring it up again 😅) this week’s schedule is a little smaller to give everyone a chance to have a little dance without taking up too much of your time !!!

Calling all beginners to join us for an Irish Dancing session with the wonderful Moira tomorrow, and a little intermediate hip hop class with the stunning Ariana on Wednesday ❤️

We really hope you take some time this week to polish off the semester with some groovy moves (and we hope you have a fabulous christmas day 😉)

We’ve been having so much fun with you guys lately, we’ve decided to host a society classic; a pub quiz !! 🤩

Come join us on Tuesday for a snazzy night of dance themed quizzing with all your friends- the perfect way to start off the Christmas season 🎄

There’s a link in our bio to sign up with your team name (we’re seriously hoping for some dance/quiz themed jokes, so don’t hold back!) and how many people will be joining you !

The quiz is €2 per table, and those proceeds are again going to so we can contribute to their amazing services - everyone was so generous at our raffle at the Winter Showcase and we can’t thank you enough ❤️❤️

Happy Sunday everyone ! We’ve got another gorgeous schedule to brighten up your week 🤍

This week we’re stepping our Kpop class up a knotch, from beginner to intermediate ! If you want to test your skills we really recommend you give it a try and see how you’ve improved from last time !
By popular demand, Aisling is also hosting an intermediate contemporary class; loads of you have been asking for more, and we would do anything to make you happy 🫶

We’re unbelievably excited to say hello to the first Bollywood workshop of the year ! All levels are of course welcome, especially beginners- it’s always good craic to give a new style a try !!
This week is also the return of Stella’s Yoga class in aid of UNICEF- all proceeds go to supporting their work in Ukraine 🩵

Don’t forget our Winter Showcase is happening this Thursday ! We’re just days away from seeing some amazing Hip Hop, Irish Dance, Ballet, and Fusion routines, as well as a special performance by !! You can also buy a raffle ticket on the night for a chance to win some awesome prizes in aid of - check out our last post for some hints about what you could win ! the best part of winter has finally arrived- The DanceSoc Winter Showcase ! ❄️🌨️☃️

Our fabulous crews and the teams from our sensational 5 week courses have been putting together some stellar routines and they can’t wait to show off their moves🕺Not to mention we’re buzzing to share the festivities with performances from an extra special guest - !

As if you needed anymore reason to come, we’re also hosting a raffle for everyone in attendance in aid of . All raffle proceeds go towards continuing the vital supports, therapies, and services they provide to their patients 🤍 Tickets can be purchased at the door - we don’t want to spoil too much but there’s some wonderful goodies to win generously provided by &s and that are calling you name ! Why do the Dance Moms never make coffee ☕️ ? Because they prefer brewing up drama 😄!!

We heard you guys were hoping for some more chill DanceSoc events, so we’ve decided to host a little coffee morning ❤️
However we couldn’t resist inserting a little bit of dance into the occasion, so naturally we’ll be watching Dance Moms together ! What’s coffee and tea without a side of scandal ? 🤭

Come join us on Thursday at 11:30am in the Blue Room to watch the Dance Moms spill some tea; but hopefully you won’t spill yours !!
Feel free to bring a reusable coffee cup and even a friend ! It’s never too late to join DanceSoc, so if you or a friend is looking for a chill introduction to the society, come along and sign up ( all you need to sign up is your student number and €2 ☺️)
