About the dance: Choreographer Fiona Quilligan spent the past year talking with dancers about their lives while making casts of their feet. As the feet multiplied in number, the richness of their stories echoed in her mind and so Casts and Conversations was born. This exciting new dance features a cast of international dancers from Italy, Poland and Ireland with live music from musicians Donal MacErlaine (guitar, Seán O'Riada award winner 2014) and Rory Pierce (cello).

Our Story

Venue: Smock Alley Theatre, Exchange Street Lower, Temple Bar, Dublin 8 Tel. 01-6770014

http://smockalley.com/window-woman/ Dates: Thursday 05 July - Saturday 07 July 2018 at 8.00pm. €15/12 (Student/OAP/Unemployed concession) About the dance: choreographer Fiona Quilligan finds herself in the woods at Fernhill – as part of a dream team – to install James McKenna’s sculptures, two dancers act as a counterweight on ropes while the figures are hauled high up into the treetops – a vantage point where they reign supreme! Window Woman plays with ideas of duality; from the sensual body to McKenna’s female warriors of early Irish society, who give and receive the wisdoms of life. Always resilient in conflict, they are resourceful and flexible in mind and body. McKenna’s sculptures loom over the dance with a life giving force inspiring an impassioned earth-driven ritual of empowerment. Window Woman features David Collier's debut release on Ergodos records. Smacht is a collection of some of his latest work performed by an all-star string quartet of Cora Venus Lunny, Adrian Hart, Robin Panter and Kate Ellis, and New York percussion group Mobius Percussion.

DANCERS: Justine Cooper, Zelda Francesca, Lucia Kickham and Maria Nilsson Waller.
