I’m going back to my hometown of Dundalk on the 23rd of February for a special gig 🎪

I’ve been working on my new album, it’s ready to go and I can start sharing it with you all soon but before that happens I want to take the songs and bring them to the .ie ! The place where gigging really began for me.

It’ll be me, some guitars, a piano and a special guest or two so grab a ticket while you can and let’s make it one to remember.

I’ll be playing some songs you all know too so there’ll be a sing song or ten don’t fret.

It’s always good to get back, I miss the caustic humour, the characters & the energy of the place and with the recent loss of my grandfather the first hometown gig in a long while takes on added poignancy.

Don’t be dry, see you there!

C’mon the town.

🎶🔥 Mark your calendars for Saturday, 25th January, because The Fireside Sessions are back at Toales with another unforgettable evening of original music in our cosy, intimate setting—FREE admission guaranteed!

We’re thrilled to welcome back the incredible Geansaí, known for his unique blend of parochial grunge-folk, delivered with charm, wit, and of course, his signature woolly jumper. His songs tackle Ireland’s modern challenges—from the housing crisis to the rising cost of spuds—balancing humour and thought-provoking lyrics. It’s the perfect night to wrap up warm and enjoy Geansaí!

Joining him is the talented Catherine McCrystal, a Northern Irish singer and acoustic guitarist with a rich, American folk/country/bluegrass voice. With over 15 years of performing experience, Catherine will share her original songs along with beautifully crafted covers.

The show kicks off around 9:30 PM, and as always, admission is FREE! Don’t miss out on this fantastic night of music! 🎤✨

Fireside Sessions is an acoustic club that showcases the best in acoustic acts, always inside by the fire in the bar, always free admission, and is proud to welcome back for another Fireside Session Ben Reel. Since releasing his debut album This Is the Movie in 1999, Ben has consistently reinvented his sound, blending influences from folk, soul, reggae, rock, and jazz. Critics compare his style to icons like John Hiatt, Dylan, and the Band, while others have dubbed him the Irish Springsteen, but with a voice and artistry uniquely his own.

Over a 25-year solo career, Ben has earned global acclaim, with appearances on major platforms like BBC, RTE, and Dutch NPO Radio. He’s shared the stage with legends like Jools Holland and The Cranberries and collaborated with artists such as Hal Ketchum, David Olney, and Nanci Griffiths.

In 2020, Ben released his 9th album, The Nashville Calling, produced by Will Kimbrough and Tommy Womack, featuring E Street Band’s Garry W. Tallent on bass. Recorded in Nashville, the album topped the Euro Americana charts and marked a career milestone.

Ben has performed at iconic venues like the Bluebird Café and toured extensively, including with Tommy Womack and Eric Andersen. He’s headlined renowned festivals such as Jamming@Hippie Jacks (USA), Haarlem Jazz (NL), and Electric Picnic (IE). With a loyal international fan base, Ben Reel remains a tireless troubadour and a vital presence on the global music scene.

Show starts 9pm and, as always for Fireside Sessions, admission is FREE!

“You’ve gotta make your own kind of music/sing your own special song”

Wed 18th December. 8.30pm. Spirit Store.

The final Sea Legs Open Mic Collective of 2024 and you are all invited for a song of your choice or a suitable yuletide air or canticle.

Let’s sing the blues away.

As always, it’s a microphone, a guitar, a piano and a room of ears. Here’s a call out to all who wish to try out their thing in front of a live audience. An opportunity to make that move, step into the discomfort zone and realise your potential as a singer, musician, performer. It’s the perfect place to try out new songs/compositions or just sing a song you love to sing.

An instrumental, spoken word, poetry, all is welcome.

Repost from

InBetween Honey have crafted a radio-ready sound, blending their love for ‘90s guitar music with the synth-driven vibes of the ‘80s. United by a shared passion for diverse genres, the band has built a reputation with sold-out shows at iconic venues like Whelan’s and The Workman’s Club, as well as standout performances at Electric Picnic in 2019 and 2023. They’ve also shone at Whelan’s Ones to Watch festival and shared the stage with legends such as Aslan, Paddy Casey, and Turn.
In 2022, the band released five singles and their debut EP, Ludlow Street, which earned them the title of Cobra Promotions’ Best Debut EP 2023. Their momentum only grew in 2024 with the release of their single Nothing More, hailed as “world-class” by Radio Nova’s Pat Courtney. The year also saw a milestone international debut at London’s iconic Dublin Castle in Camden.

Co-headlining the night are Dundalk natives Orwells ’84, whose sound fuses influences ranging from David Bowie and Nick Cave to Arctic Monkeys and The Beatles. Known for their unique blend of indie-folk and genre-defying artistry, Orwells ’84 pair feel-good melodies with poignant social commentary, securing their place as one of Dundalk’s most exciting musical voices.

The evening also features support acts: singer-songwriter Koi and electronica outfit Spinitch.
Doors open at 8 PM, and tickets are €10.
