This weekend don't miss the Legends of Louth Festival in Dundalk Town Centre! Back by popular demand with music, theatre, talks, walks and tours the Legends of Louth festival really has something for everyone in the family to enjoy!
Don’t miss balloon artist Sweet Caroline and street entertainers Hoopixie and Jelly Cirque, aka The Spin Twins, at Market Square showcasing their skills and bringing a touch of the circus to town! Soak up the carnival atmosphere and enjoy free entertainment at Market Square from 2 – 5pm but be sure to check out the full line-up of festival events taking place below 👇
Saturday 27th May
• 9am Táin International Hillwalking Festival (Sat & Sun) – registration takes place in Dundalk BIDS & Tourist Office at Market Square from 8–9am, bus departs 9am sharp! Check out for full details or contact 0429352111. €15/ one-day pass or €25/ two-day pass. Please ensure you have the correct equipment for a day in the hills.
• 11am Military history tour of Aiken Barracks led by Sergeant Riccardo Lucchesi. A unique opportunity to learn about the history of Aiken Barracks from 1798 up until the present day. Please register at 10.45am via the Point Road entrance - Tour starts 11am and is free of charge.
• 11am Guided Tour of County Museum, Dundalk, Ireland at Roden Place. This award-winning museum documents the rich history of County Louth through the ages, get ready for a journey through time. This event is free of charge but booking is essential 0429392999.
• 11.30am Seekdundalk Mural Walking Tour. This guided walk explores the artworks created in Dundalk as part of SEEK Urban Arts festivals - learn about the artists, their techniques, and discover the history and stories behind the pieces they have created. This event is free of charge but booking is essential 0429352111
• 12.30pm Cúchulainn Fun Run (2k/5K) it's fun, it’s free and it's for the whole family to enjoy! Registration from 12noon in St. Helena Park. Walk, run, cheer or volunteer, this event is for all abilities (please note this fun run is not timed) First 100 past the finish line get a bespoke Legends of Louth festival medal!
Market Square Events
• 2–5pm Poc in the Hound Competition - have you got what it takes to become the next Cú Chulainn? Hurling and camogie fans can put their skills to the test and find out what it’s like to be in the hot seat and puck under pressure.
• 2–2.30pm The world famous Carlingford Pipe Band are first up in a stellar line-up of performances taking place over the course of the afternoon.
• 2.30–3pm ‘The Grannies’ is an interactive, outdoor performance that speaks to people of all ages. The two older ladies flirt, they provoke, they are shameless – but always end up putting a smile on people’s faces. www.antain.ie/event/the-grannies/
• 2.30–3pm Oriel Traditional Orchestra OTO will fill the Market Square with the sound of traditional music from the Oriel region and beyond. Highlights will include a specially commission suite entitled ‘The Oriel March’ which was inspired by the history and landscape of the area.
• 3.30pm Scoraíocht Lann Léire A celebration of Irish music, history and culture - this performance by musicians and singers from Dunleer will reflect the wonderful musical heritage of mid-louth.
• 4pm Scoil-Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh take to the stage. This world-renowned Irish Dancing School are guaranteed to provide an outstanding performance for all to enjoy.

• 4.30pm Cú Chulainn C.C.É are Louth’s newest Comhaltas branch and with their fiddles, flutes and accordions they bring the musical entertainment of the afternoon to a celebratory finish!
• 7–9pm County Musuem, Dundalk | Doors open 6.30pm, please be seated by 6.50pm (Entry €10, pay at the door)
‘I Kavanagh’, compiled & performed by Noel McGee, is a celebration of the life & works of poet and novelist Patrick Kavanagh.
Followed by a captivating talk on the Wildlife & Fauna in the Cooley Mountains by Wildlife Expert Derek Watters.
Sunday 28th of May

• 2–5.30pm The Mount Avenue Walking Tour is guided by Pádraig Cumiskey and encompasses the historical and archaeological sites of ‘the back of the wall’. Visit standing stones and Cú Chulainn’s Grave, learn about St. Brigid’s connection to the land, and marvel at the 5,000 year old rock art. On this tour you will discover the mythological significance of this area and the rich legacy left behind – all in one afternoon!
Departing at 2pm from Redeemer Church, no need to register in advance. Please do not park on the church grounds, thank you.
