Some race info for runners and spectators…
Glengarriff 5 Mile Run will take place at 2:30pm on Saturday September 28th 2024, in aid of local National Schools, Scoil Fhiachna & Derrycreha.
The event is kindly sponsored by Harrington Estates Bantry, John J. O'Sullivan & Associates CIRCLE Digital Marketing and a host of local businesses.
The race route will start at Sacred Heart Church, Glengarriff and then proceed through the village, down the Castletownbere Road, turn up the Coomerkane Road and into the Nature Reserve at Lady Bantry’s Lookout trail. The course will wind it’s way around the Big Meadow and Riverwalk Trails and return via the Kenmare Road to the Finish at the Parochial Hall.
We would ask you to note that there will be 150 or so participants on the route for about a 2 hour duration and we would greatly appreciate your vigilance and patience when using the roads and Nature Reserve paths during this time. Expect traffic congestion through the village during the event.
Please also note parts of the public roadside outside the Church, Parochial Hall and along the graveyard on the Castletownbere Road will be cordoned off on the evening of the Friday 1st September. Parking will therefore be limited in these areas. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and would appreciate your cooperation in this regard. The cordons will be removed as soon as the relevant section of the course is completed.
For further information or if you wish to register for the event please visit www.glengarriff5mile.ie or check out our social feed!
We look forward to welcoming you to Glengarriff 5 Mile Run as a participant or as a spectator!
