Some of you may already know that my amazing mother, Nuala recently passed away. She was a wonderful, kind, strong, proud Kerry woman. Earlier this year, she fought off cancer & we were so proud of her. Sadly last month, we found out the cancer returned, so I decided to step away from some of my upcoming weddings to spend as much time with her as I could.
Last week, I worked on my final two weddings for the next little while. But my Mom lost her battle quick, choosing to leave this world peacefully rather than see us, or herself, suffer any longer. I was working on Thursday's wedding when we got the call to come to the hospital.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to two fantastic florists, Danielle from Tie The Knot Weddings who, despite her busy schedule, stepped in to help with last Thursday's wedding in Adare without hesitation. Her work was incredible, Brendan & Katie were so happy. I’m also immensely grateful to Carolyne from .ie who took on Friday's wedding in Limerick also on short notice. Aishling, the bride, sent me a lovely message afterwards. A huge thank you also to my husband Anthony, who has been my rock during these difficult days, organising things when I couldn’t. I have other florists to thank who are helping with upcoming weddings, I’ll share more about them later.
To the upcoming brides who have been so understanding & kind, thank you. I know your wedding day is incredibly important, and it was so hard for me to figure out how to manage things after receiving such heartbreaking news a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, not everyone was understanding, but I did my very best to find alternative florists for all couples. It’s a little reminder that you never truly know what someone is going through, so please, be kind.
Making her casket spray was the hardest yet most beautiful flower arrangement I've ever made, a final tribute to the woman who nurtured my love for flowers and life itself.A special thanks to all who sent words of support, called, sent food etc to me and my family at home in Bruff. Running a solo business in situations like this is challenging, but I’m so grateful for the amazing people in my life. I’ll be back on social media soon, but for now, I need a little time to process things. Karen x
