So, I decided to have another go at acting and recently finished a course with Terry McMahon the Writer/Director of this magnificent Irish film.
Terry is an amazingly well informed, insightful and provocative man with a tremendous capacity for “Re framing” everyday things and experiences (check out his Facebook posts)
As a teacher, his style is to explain and demonstrate the theory and then facilitate your journey in understanding what the theory means to you. I’ll post the monologue and duologues that were part of the learnings I got from him.
So yeah, for the weekend that’s in it, Enjoy Patrick’s Day ☘️

The film is written and directed by Terry.
Patrick's Day has won countless awards at international film Festivals since its release in 2015.

A provocative love story about mental health and the right to intimacy, Patrick’s Day suggests that when it comes to love, we are all more than a little crazy. Professor emeritus of psychiatry at University College Dublin and former chief psychiatrist of the Eastern Health Board, Ivor Brown sums it up :

“By any stretch of the imagination Terry McMahon’s Patrick’s Day is a powerful, brilliantly written and directed film. Moe Dunford is wonderful, as is Kerry Fox, and the other actors are also excellent but this is more than a creative work of cinema.

It is not fiction. It is absolutely true to life. In my fifty years as a psychiatrist, and in the practice of psychotherapy, I have had to deal with family situations exactly like this. I feel it is vital that Patrick’s Day should be shown to as wide a public as possible.

This just kinda popped up in my Facebook world. As an entertainer, nights can in one sense blend into one another but in reality, they are all very different and unique. This particular night was High Energy and loads of fun.

I’m still catching up on myself after a busy December which found me doing, of all things, a Pantomime!!! I got a call on a Friday evening in mid November from Shane Bardon telling me that someone had to pull out and asking would I do it… and it was only 2 songs? But 25 performances😱
My first thought was that he was joking, and then that I was already busier than I wanted to be…so I graciously declined.
Over the weekend tho, it played in my mind. I remembered the thrill of going to the Pantos in the Theatre Royal in Waterford, and actually wanting to Be the King in them. How could I work this situation out..
I looked at my diary and on Monday I rang Shane and suggested that I could do it on a job-share basis and would be available to do 15 of the performances… and so it came to pass that yet another of my long forgotten dreams was realised
Thanks Shane Bardon and Sean Lynch and all at the Mullingar Arts Centre - Centre For The Performing Arts
The question now is….

Every so often I’ll post on Facebook and get a whole bunch of likes and comments from people with whom I have no possible connection and who couldn’t possibly stumble across my page. My assumption is that they’re Trolls Trolling. In many ways it’s a sad world that we live in, that has people in such a state that this is what they decide to do for a living!

The further I got into reading this article the more ridiculous it became to the point in the last handful of paragraphs where I thought it was April fools or a Monty python sketch.
It’s moments like being able to sell pint bottles of wine alongside 200, 500 and 750 ml bottles that make Brexit a success 🥹

A local Mullingar lady who is a doctor was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in October this year. Cathriona Logan is a 36 year old doctor with two very young children, Kitty 3 and Barra 1, and an adoring husband Leo.

Her sisters have organised a gofundme in the hope of raising funds for treatment in America or Canada .

On the gofundme page it says , " We've explored all treatment options in Ireland and we are currently onto specialists in America trying to give Triona the best chance possible, and trying to get her the most amount of time possible with her family and friends. Unfortunately this kind of treatment comes at a very large cost.

Triona has a Grade 4, non-resectable Astrocytoma with a typical prognosis of 12-18 months. She's is currently undergoing radiation therapy. We are placing our hopes in oncovirus therapies being trialled currently in the United States and Canada.

Any funds not used for treatment for Triona will be donated to The Irish Cancer Society.

If you are in the position to donate we would hugely appreciate it, even a share would be amazingly helpful. We'll be doing fundraising events over the next while so please get involved if you can and share with your friends and family.
