Thanks to everyone who popped into Fox,s tonight, and thanks to the Brady family for coming in to remember Dickie Brady, dad, brother, uncle etc, we were delighted to see ye all. Bon voyage to u guys goin back to Oz in the mornin, and to the rest of you travelling in the days ahead. It was a pleasure to have known Dickie, although, for some of us, the friendship was far too short. Enjoy the wee video. This is Dickie doin what he loved to do.
Luke Kellys final performance. I always felt, whenever I saw this, that he was announcing his own departure. Cruel irony
Having the craic at Fox,s ballad and folk session every thursday night
Expect a lot more like this tonight. Thanks Clare for thw video
Short of adopting the lot of ye, I dont know what else to do. I listened to this when I got home, and to say that I am impressed, would be an understatement. Ya wouldnt get it in Vicar street. It doin the rounds of Australia, Canada and the US at the moment, So well done everyone
John was on form last nite with "Englands motorways"
Ya dont expect this when you come to Fox,s ballad and folk session
I came across this piece of work on utube, and loved it instantly as it mentions some great characters of old in its lyrics. One of whom was "Bang Bang", aka John Duddy. He used to shoot at the busses with his larger than life door key, and I remember seeing him on the streets in Dublin in the late 60s, when I was just a chap
A rare piece of footage of Sharon collen and Bobby Clancy from the "Ballad session" 1963
They dont make them like this anymore
Heres one to start your Saturday mornin off with a bang. Enjoy, and have a nice day
Apologies for the poor sound quality. This is a great ballad by Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot. Lightfott I suppose, would be to Canada, as Christy Moore is to Ireland. His music spanned decades, and you could never get tired listening to it.
Take a walk on the wild side, and keep you calendar free for next thursday night at Foxes lounge ballads and folk nite.
