It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our dear and loyal friend, Molly 🖤

For the past seven years, Molly has been a cherished companion to both guests and staff alike. Her gentle spirit touched everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Molly will be deeply missed by all of us here at Ballyseede Castle, including her four-legged friends, Hope, Charlie, and Joe.

In keeping with the Blennerhassett Family Tradition, Molly was lovingly wrapped in our finest blanket and laid to rest in the castle’s family pet cemetery, alongside her friends Mr. Higgins, Einstein, and Bubbles. We will raise a Gin & Tonic in honour of our beloved companions.

I think it was obvious from my happy tears at check out yesterday that I had the best day of my life on Saturday. Every single guest is talking about how stunning the venue was, how amazing the new chapel is, how helpful the staff were and how delicious the food was.

I do not have the words to thank you all for what was honestly the most perfect day. You took my vision and made it ten times better. It exceeded all of my expectations.

From my meetings with Mary and the countless emails being replied to so effectively; to Marnie teaching me how to walk down the aisle and for making my entrance so dramatic that I got clapped down the aisle; and the beautiful photos that Esther took of the boys at the bar; every single member of staff went above and beyond so please tell them thank you from us!!

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Mary Morrissey (née Sugrue).

Mary worked as Hilda Blennerhassett’s maid, and her parents lived in The Lodge at the gates of Ballyseede Castle when they worked at the Castle in the 1950s.

We were honoured to receive a visit from Mary in March of this year when she spoke fondly and shared wonderful stories of her time as a young girl at Ballyseede Castle.

The thoughts of everyone at Ballyseede Castle are with Mary’s family and friends during this time.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann (Mitzie) Corscadden, (née Ahern), Cabra Castle, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.

As we reflect on our loss and celebrate her life, we are reminded of her passion for life, her inspiring vision, and her love for her family. Mitzie attended Shannon College of Hotel Management in 1953, where she embarked on a journey that would shape her future and leave an indelible mark on the hospitality industry, a Shannon Graduate to the end. She will be remembered not only for her remarkable achievements as a businesswoman and hotelier but also for her compassion and kindness as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and lifelong friend to many.

Mitzie touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering dedication to excellence in hospitality created a lasting impression on guests and employees alike, leaving a legacy that will endure for many years to come. She remained grounded in her philosophy of hospitality—simple yet profound: "Just be nice to people." Her genuine warmth and infectious smile left a mark on all who crossed her path, embodying the essence of true hospitality.

She will be deeply missed by her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick, ‘Pappy’. Deeply missed by her children Patricia, Howard, Marnie, Adam, and Patrick; her sons-in-law Les McCabe and Rory O’Sullivan, and daughters-in-law Deirdre, Therese and Ciara; her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother Neily Ahern and sister Josie O’ Callaghan, her extended family, former colleagues, and a wide circle of friends both at home and abroad.

Reposing at The Granary in Cabra Castle on Wednesday, 24th July, from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kingscourt on Thursday 25th July at 10.00am with burial afterwards in Kingscourt Cemetery.

The stunning Ballyseede Castle in Co. Kerry is one of the finest 4-star luxury castle hotels in Ireland and Kerry’s only Castle Hotel. Situated close to Tralee, on the famous Ring of Kerry, Ballyseede Castle is a favourite with every generation.
