A special meeting of the tourism industry in Clew Bay/South Mayo is taking place on Wednesday, February 12th @ 12 noon in the Westport Woods Hotel.

This 1-hour meeting will specifically focus on the challenges facing the Belclare to Murrisk Greenway and how the tourism industry can play a constructive role in helping progress this vital piece of tourism infrastructure.

The meeting is hosted by the Clew Bay Tourism Network and will include briefings from Mayo County Council and Fáilte Ireland.

Westport based production Company Crossing the Line Films have been nominated in The Realscreen Awards 2025 for their “Irelands Wild Islands” production.

The Realscreen Awards celebrate excellence in unscripted and non-fiction entertainment. They honor creativity, authenticity, and originality. Winning a Realscreen Award is not only a mark of distinction within the entertainment industry but also a testament to the impact and quality of the work produced.
The awards will take place on Tuesday 4th February 2025 in Miami.

We would like express a huge Congratulations to Elsie Higgins on receiving a nomination and being shortlisted for Volunteer of the year at the Volunteer Ireland awards which was held yesterday, 8th of December in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown, Dublin.

Elsie has been a dedicated committee member and volunteer for Westport Tidy Towns, and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind for many years and always puts a trojan effort and creativity into every single task and project she has managed or collaborated on throughout those years.
We're sure there isn't a person in Westport that hasn't witnessed Elsie's hard work or artistic flare around the town and community in some shape of form as her talents have touched every corner of the town and beyond.

Due to unsafe weather conditions....The official switching on of the Westport Christmas Lights by newly elected TD Keira Keogh , Retired TD Michael Ring, along with the eminent Santa Claus will now take place on Monday, 9th December at 6pm on the Octagon. Meet and Greet with Santa & Mrs Claus afterwards in his grotto at Town Hall.
