Meet Shonagh Lyonâs, co-host of Beat Breakfast
This is a new short interview series called âSpotlightâ.
From fitness enthusiasts to innovative entrepreneurs to creative artists, in each episode, I speak with people from various backgrounds to highlight what they are most passionate about.
In this episode, I met with Shonagh Lyons, a radio presenter who co-hosts Beat Breakfast on Beat 102-103, the biggest radio station in the south-east of Ireland.
Shonaghâs journey started with a love of drama. She was part of many drama productions as a child in her home town of Wexford but later went on to study drama at DIT in Rathmines, Dublin.
Soon after completing her studies, she landed a job as a presenter on the RTE kids show Sattitude which kick-started her presenting career.
After returning to live in Wexford, she spotted an opportunity in radio and decided to study the broadcast course which was run by Beat and WLR and soon after was given the chance to start with Beat. She then set her sights on presenting the Breakfast Show at Beat and the rest is history as they say.
Shonaghâs drive, hard-working attitude and gratitude for what she has is truly inspiring. She is living proof that knowing what you want and putting the work in pays off.
I enjoyed this chat with Shonagh and I hope you do too.
Enjoy!

This is episode 2 of a new short interview series called âSpotlightâ. From fitness enthusiasts to innovative entrepreneurs to creative artists, in each episode I speak with people from a variety of backgrounds to shine a light on what they are most passionate about. In this episode I meet up with Jamie Pettitt, owner and founder of Yola Bakery Wexford based in county Wexford. Jamie has been working in the food retail sector for over 10 years now and his passion for food led him to the Ballymaloe Cookery School where his love for sourdough took off. After completing his training at Ballymaloe he went on to join the team at Seagull Bakery in Tramore where he worked with the brilliant Sarah Richards before setting up his own business, Yola Artisan Bakery. He took inspiration from his home county when naming the business. The Yola people were an ethnic group skilled in farming who derived from the baronies of Forth and Bargy in County Wexford which is where Yola was originally formed. Yola is a traditional sourdough bakery specialising in the art of heritage bread or real bread as we like to call it. Jamieâs energy and passion for breadmaking can be seen with every loaf he creates, producing some of the most incredible sourdough breads on the market in the country. Get to know the man behind the bread in this short interview.
