🎭✨ We are delighted to announce that Wexford Light Opera Society has been awarded Best Musical and Best Set Design for our production of Phantom of the Opera in Liam Murphy’s Best of 2024 awards in The Munster Express! 🏆

A massive thank you to Liam Murphy for this recognition and to our talented cast, crew, and creative team whose passion brought this iconic show to life.

We’re so excited to share that our very own Catherine “Biddy” Walsh has just been elected as the Mayor of Wexford Town! 🎭✨

Biddy has been a treasured member of our society for as long as we can remember, bringing her passion for the Arts and her unwavering dedication to our community. Not to mention her comedy that always keeps us in stitches! 😂Her commitment to making Wexford town a better place for all has always inspired us.

We are so proud of you, Biddy! 💖 and can’t wait to see all the great things you’ll do for our little town.

We are thrilled to announce the cast for our upcoming production of Young Frankenstein! Get ready for a hilarious and visually stunning musical that will leave you laughing from start to finish. 🎶🧟‍♂️

Wexford Light Opera Society would like to express our deepest condolences to Micheal and Majella Londra on the sad passing of their beloved father, Michael (Mickey-Joe).
We are also thinking of his wife Margie, his son Wally, his grandson Dylan, and all his extended family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this incredibly difficult time

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tom Irish, a cherished member of the Wexford Light Opera Society family.

Tom’s extraordinary contribution to WLOS began in 1977 when he joined the chorus of Die Fledermaus and played the role of Potiphar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Over the years, Tom graced our stage in nine productions, with his final performance in 1989.

Beyond his talent as a performer, Tom was a gifted designer. His set designs for productions such as Die Fledermaus, La Belle Hélène, and The Merry Widow left an indelible mark, earning him an AIMS award for Best Set in 1988. His creativity extended to constructing and painting sets for shows like Showboat and Brigadoon.

Tom was also a dedicated committee member, serving as Vice Chairman, Chairman, and President, and he represented WLOS as an AIMS delegate for 13 years. His leadership and passion were felt far beyond Wexford, as he held key roles in AIMS, including Chairman of the South East Region and National Councillor.

In addition to his artistic and administrative contributions, Tom championed new talent through his work on the Poster Design and Art Competition and preserved Wexford’s musical theatre history by authoring Musical Societies in Wexford Town 1911–1944.

Tom’s passion, dedication, and kindness left an indelible mark on WLOS and the wider musical theatre community. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
