Hi everyone, over the first 2 sessions, we've had more than 40 original songs played by local songwriters and the quality has truly been amazing. When I first decided to start this, it was my intention to have it as a once a month gig which would be a platform for original music and while I knew there would be an interest in it,I've been blown away by the amount of people who are interested in being a part of it.
Since the first night, I didn't want to turn anyone away especially seeing as we've incorporated songwriting challenges into the night. But saying that,as we grow and more people want to perform , I don't think it would be beneficial for either the audience or songwriters to have a night that went on for 2 and a half or 3 hours and I'm very conscious of having this music night going on in a residential area.
So the plan is this, each night will have 10/11 performers and instead of having it as a once monthly session, we are going to try it out twice a month and that way if you don't play in one, I'll put you down for the next. While there will be challenges given out on each night,it doesn't mean that you can only play them the following night. The most important aspect of this is to encourage each other to write and perform new songs. Apologies if I have to turn you down for a night but I'm trying to structure it into a workable timeframe that benefits everyone
As it stands, I have 6 people who have contacted me already for Thursday night so if ya want to play, just send me a message and I'll put your name down on the list. Kicks off at half 7.
