Most of the time I post here about weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. In this case, it's about remembering and giving tribute to one amazing human in our Modiin community, a fun-loving father, a loving husband, a respectful son and brother, and a phenomenal orthodontist whom we all loved. This emotional Sefer Torah ceremony that took place on Yom Yerushalayim involved all friends and family and the physical Torah covers - מעיל were designed by his super talented wife Jodi Wachspress and the wooden handles עצי חיים by Eitan Wachspress. Josh Wachspress, you have left a gaping hole in our community, may everyone always remember the larger than life man you were and may your neshama have an Aliyah יהי זכרו ברוך. ישראל ווייל סטודיו לצילום

Ilan expressed for his Bar Mitzvah Shabbat and party that he would like the venue to look different than other events and to have his friends come and party with awesome games because he doesn't like dance parties. So we granted his wish! On Shabbat all the guests came in to this amazingly fun and colourful room and the party was fun-filled with cool games and magic! Mazal Tov Ilan and family. Part two of Jack's Bar Mitzvah. Shabbat prayers, singing, dancing, and eating all while looking at this spectacular view overlooking the Kotel (Western Wall). Jack’s Bar Mitzvah planning was in the works but on October 7th, 2023, everything came to a hault. It became almost impossible to know if this event would actually take place in Israel. Flights were minimal, hotels were closed, lives and hearts were shattered. One month before the date of this event, Jack’s mom Stephanie called and said "Gilda, we got flights, can we make this happen?" Indeed...we made it happen. A full weekend of Mitzvot starting with Aliya L'Torah at the Kotel, a donated incredible BBQ on an army base, and a very special Shabbat overlooking the Kotel walls was exactly how this family wanted to celebrate Jack’s Bar Mitzvah in Israel.
Below is part one at the kotel with drummers, and in recognition of the hostages we released yellow balloons and prayed with all our might. It is day 242, and we are still waiting for all our hostages to be released and are thinking of all our chayalim and their families during this difficult and excrutiating time.

For the last 2 years I have had the opportunity to be the Hostess in מלון נוף גינוסר Nof Ginosar Hotel with the amazing Kosher Travelers Pesach Progam. This year, however, is different. This year the hotel is full with 450 evacuees from Kibbutz Yiftach and Kiryat Shmona residing in the hotel as it is still deemed unsafe to return to their homes in the North. Hence there is no Pesach program and no tourists!
Upon discussions with the Hotel staff, I decided to make these families an epic party to kick off the holidays and bring some cheer with received donations. Thank you to the Beth Israel Beth Aaron Congregation, Smiles for the Kids, and Westchester Day School for your generous donations. And thank you to Pnina Herskovits Distenfeld, Eric Distenfeld and family for your donation of fun packages made as a chessed project at Avigayil's Bat Mitzvah. It was such a treat to have her give them out to all the girls at the hotel. You have all helped put a smile on these faces as you can see, and may we continue to all help eachother as a nation. Am Yisrael Chai! 🇮🇱

Mazal Tov to Lori Miodownik Barnea and family on Joey's Bar Mitzvah event. We kicked off the weekend with a beautiful Aliyah L'Torah at the Kotel followed by a delicious brunch at Piccolino. In addition to the great food and music Orit Barnea Seif discussed Kedma, a volunteer organization that partners with non-profit organizations throughout Israel. Everyone then joined in packing bags with basic necessities to be given to Chayalim. Little did we all know at the end of August these necessities would come in so handy now...

The Lifsh*tz family flew all the way to Israel from New York to celebrate their son's Aufruf, which in Israel is called Shabbat Chatan. Everything came together beautifully from the flowers to the gift bags and everyone just enjoyed being together to celebrate love and life. Both moved to Israel from different countries, met while learning hebrew at Ulpan Etzion, fell in love and the rest is history.

It’s been some time since I’ve posted any content unrelated to the war and atrocities of October 7th. But I am choosing to spread the light and positive milestones in these difficult and impossible times. We as a nation need to show the world we will not be defeated. Noah and his family came all the way from Canada to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah. It was important for the family to have a meaningful and special event where the family could all be together. Noah's Aliya L'Torah took place in the Ashkenazi Shul in Yemin Moshe followed by a delicious breakfast overlooking the walls of the Old City. May we continue to have many more people visit and only have smachot in our amazing country. Am Yisrael Chai!

Another emotional event in Aish Global overlooking the Kotel, one of the holiest and historical sites in the world. This is the third event spearheaded by an amazing donor and team leader from America - Kenny Yager a true ba'al chessed. On Tu B'Shvat displaced families were invited to join us for an evening of dance, prizes, delicious food, and Tu B'Shvat snacks. Additionally each family went back to their hotel rooms with a plant from משתלה מהלב, an association that works with people with emotional difficulties. It was a well-needed evening for each of these families and for just a few hours they were able to detach from their sorrows and just enjoy life. Tizku L'Mitzvot.

Mazal Tov Talia and Sammy! One for the books. This couple originally planned a whole wedding in a hall but because of the war outbreak it was decided to keep it small and stay in the hotel. There was not a dry eye in the room. Friends, family and evacuees were all present in joining in this Simcha and participated in the singing and showing of unity.

Nothing more rewarding than to produce a special Channuka event for those who are currently completing the most difficult, gutwrenching and sacred work for the Jewish people. ZAKA Search & Rescue, there are not enough words to thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. You are doing heroic work and we salute you.
It was a true honour to work with the donor for this event Kenny Yager, thank you for giving me this opportunity.

A new year. A new beginning. 2024.
Today, while everyone around us celebrates, we in Israel are still stuck on October 7th, 2023.

I would like to pause and think about those who are no longer with us, the hostages who are not even aware of the new year, and the soldiers who are fighting daily to create a new beginning for this country by destroying the pure evil and hatred.

This year, the biggest simcha of all is to have all our hostages returned home and all our soldiers reunited with their families.

May this new year be filled with health, happiness, light and love. May we be able to fully celebrate all together in the very near future.

It takes a village sometimes with just one Bar Mitzvah, imagine ten Bar Mitzvahs in one night!
What a surreal feeling planning this emotional event for ten boys and their families who have been evacuated from the South since the atrocities on October 7th. Our amazing team created a night of magic, music, laughter and Chizzuk which was exactly what these families needed. Many of the family members expressed that they had no plan in place for any celebrations for their children aside from their Aliyah L'Torah but thank you to Meredith and Kenny Yager from Five Star Catering in New York and the donations they raised, we provided them an evening to remember.

At the end of the wedding that Thursday evening, I asked the couple if they were at least going to have Shabbat off together. They responded "Funny, he's back in on base at 5am". Just shows what crazy times we are living in...
It was such a זכות to be able to assist חיילים who tirelessly fight for our country and to see how they still had energy to dance and smile at the end of the day was just awe-inspiring. Praying that our חיילים and all hostages return safely home to us and their families very soon.
And Mazal Tov to the amazing new couple Lior Spanier and Matanel. Wishing you a wonderful, calm and happy life together 😘

I am excited to share that I am collaborating with a group of local event planners in assisting displaced families and victims of war in celebrating their events as joyfully as possible.
Additionally, to be able to partner with Bnei Akiva of the US and Canada
is just an added bonus as I have been passionate and affiliated with its' values throughout my life.
By planning Bar and Bat Mitzvahs for these children and families we are standing up to terror and showing the world that we will always continue to shine even in the face of devastating darkness.
