The "Phoolon ki chaadar" or blanket of flowers is generally and traditionally a dupatta with flowers entwined that signifies that the bride has grown up under a lot of love and care and the walk shows that she is now leaving that protection to be with her groom, stepping into a new phase of life. It is carried by the protectors of the bride which are mostly the brothers as per custom.

In Odia wedding ceremonies "Panigrahana" also known as "Hata Ganthi Phita" is a significant ritual of tying knot by keeping the bride's palm on groom's where the groom accepts the bride's hands and utters his intentions of keeping the bride happy and loved always.

"Varmala" also known as "Jaimala" holds a significant position in Indian weddings as it is believed to be the acceptance ritual in the marriage. It is the ritual of exchanging of fresh aromatic garlands by the bride and the groom.The Bride is the first to attempt to exchange the garland, fighting off the Groom’s side as they playfully hinder her from placing the garland around his neck. Once the Groom successfully exchanges his garland the couple take their seats at the Mandap to start the ceremony.

Known as "Sriphala" in Sanskrit Coconut is used as a symbolic offering in Hindu wedding rituals. The coconut is blessed prior to the ceremony, marking it as a sacred object. Once blessed as a sacrificial object, the coconut is placed on top of the "kalasha" that is adorned with herbs such as turmeric, vermilion, and mango leaves. The fiber of the coconut is representative of desire or selfish wants and the hard shell of the coconut is representative of ego or pride in oneself. During the ritual, the outer fibers of the coconut is removed and the coconut is smashed, allowing the juices to flow out of it as a offering to God.This ritual demonstrates stripping back of desire and breaking of one's ego to allow inner feelings and thoughts to flow.

"Maang Bharai" is the ceremony in which the groom puts "Sindoor" or vermilion on the bride's hairline starting from the forehead to the centre of the head. The ritual is considered very auspicious as it is believed that the red colour of the vermilion signifies power and passion that activates the chakras located in the forehead. This holy ritual of Sindoor application is a very important ritual which completes the Hindu wedding.
