The beginning of our relationship, like most others, was through friendship. I remember reading somewhere that friendship is the most selfless relationship that you will have in life and it’s true. For the longest time, both me and Sreeram, independent of each other, existed believing that romantic relationships add no extra value to us, when we met each other in college we both held on to those views and now we had each other to help reinforce that point of view to others. We first started talking to each other because we had a lot of mutual friends and it was inevitable that we would talk to each other at some point. It turned out we have a lot in common and even within things we didn’t agree with, we found shades of commonality which was something neither of us had experienced before. Obviously, someone had to develop feelings and in this case it was me, I’ve always been a bit weak to mushy emotions, but Sreeram wasn’t as susceptible. After I discovered my feelings, we spent about a year tiptoeing the possibility of ‘maybe romance isn’t the worst thing ever?’ but honestly the change from friends to lovers started way before we both even realised it. It was like walking past a tree everyday, you never notice when the first leaves start to change colours, you just walk past it one day and suddenly all the green leaves have turnt amber. So when Sreeram said, I want to keep you throughout this life, I said, And with that you’ve hammered the final nail onto both our coffins. Our love for each other has always been quiet and subdued, it was always about being the comfort and support that the other person needs. A lot of things happened after that initial confession, we got our Bachelor’s degrees, Sreeram started working, I did a Masters and eventually started a PhD but through it all we were each other’s constants and safe places. Marriage was just a natural next step that we decided made sense for us considering everything we’ve been through together, and that’s the tdlr version of how two people who had contrarian views on romance, met each other, fell in love and decided to get married.

Me and Ardra bumped into each other through one of the matrimony websites. We clicked right from the first meet. Right after the end of the first video call, I just knew she is the one for me!

We both simply love one another’s company and keep pulling each other’s leg. Both of us love our big laughs, going to movies and cherishing every small moment that we can have. Similar interests and preferences in life that the two of us share were among the many important factors that got us connected. However, most important factor of all of is that we always have free flowing, open and brutally honest conversations. Perhaps it is the freedom and comfort to be our true selves with each other that connect us both!

Looking back, everything feels surreal. Though everything happened in a flash, it truly feels like we’ve known each other for eternity! Here’s hoping for more memories together and a life brimming with love, laughter and joy!
