Octavia is an inter- collegiate acoustics and electrics competition annually hosted by The Bishop Heber Hall, and ever since its inception in 1981, Octavia has been the benchmark for all events focused in and around Chennai in the World of Music. Octavia has been a platform of fillip for numerous young bands and has also featured the best bands in the country in it’s rock showdown which curtails t
he event. Participation in Octavia has become a matter of pride and prestige for most bands, mainly attributed to the accolades and fame that the event carries, with over 20-25 bands turning up to try their luck at walking away with the title of 'Octavia’s Best Band', 'Best Vocalist' and 'Best Instrumentalist'. The 31st Octavia saw Junkyard Groove taking up the stage and rocking the crowd like there was no tomorrow. Octavia usually picks the most popular bands to grace it’s rock showdown and so far it has featured the likes of Lounge Piranha, The Little Baabooshka’s Grind, The Bicycle Days, Ministry Of Blues, etc. We are always looking toward setting musical standards at Octavia and every year is a challenge not taken for granted. We live to rock and roll, and provide the best platform for bands to shine and also have fun at the same time. Its' time for people to get their act together, dust those guitars and hit that stage on October 5th 2013 .
