Most of us have a rough map of the world in our minds that we use any time we think about places. But these mental maps aren’t necessarily reliable. In fact, many of the maps in our heads share the same errors, some of which are quite large—and surprisingly resistant to correction. Checkout this video by Jane Elliott. In 1968, Jane was a third grade teacher in Iowa and the woman behind the “Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes” experiment.
You may not agree with everything she believes in but you can absolutely agree with much of what she says.
Google Maps claims that it is on a ‘never-ending quest for the perfect map’, but Jerry Brotton, historian of cartography and the author of A History of the World in Twelve Maps, isn’t so sure.
He argues that all maps are of their time, their place and serve certain purposes.

To encourage all of us to stay at home, students from the Miami Ad School branch in Europe created a campaign where Netflix billboards show spoilers for the most popular shows. Their main idea is to show that spoilers might prevent people from going out when they don’t need to, even if nothing else will.

If there was a summer camp for market researchers, it’d be the scary story counselors told around the campfire: The time an uber-successful juggernaut nearly went bankrupt because of bad market research.
#WEstorm shares the biggest marketing blunder of the history.
If the tale of New Coke is enough to send shivers down your spine, then you know how vital accurate market research numbers are. While Coca-Cola has never admitted to just how much they lost as a result of New Coke, we know they spent $4 million in development, and–after deciding to pull New Coke from the shelves–were left with over $30 million in unwanted New Coke concentrate after the fact.

As #WEinking explores the possibility of wonderfulness that the future holds through innovations, have a look at one of the first and rarest experiential tours of history.
@Google and the @Château de Versailles have teamed up to take #VR users on a private tour of Louis XIV's royal residence. It's the largest #photogrammetry project ever done at the castle, with 21 rooms and 387,500 square feet of internal surfaces captured.
Google has also made it possible to "handle and inspect over 100 sculptures, paintings and other works of art and see them with incredible close-up detail," according to Engadget. The experience is currently only available to HTC Vive and #Oculus Rift users.
In addition to the virtual tour, Google has also launched an "online exhibition' through an app available on its Arts & Culture site. It will allow users to interact with "over 390 assets, including objects, artifacts, and paintings.

This 19th century broken grand piano was brought back to life and reinvented into a hybrid of 20 instruments.
With the help of engineers, the Ukrainian indie band Brunettes Shoot Blondes installed percussion, a tambourine, violin, melodica, cello, a kick drum and other instruments into the body of a salvaged grand piano.
It took the team three years in total to build this 20-instruments-in-one, piece of art which was used to create every sound, apart from vocals, for one of their songs. All without electricity!
When pressing a key, the piano hammers beat a tambourine, cymbals, or even castanets. Special mechanical devices also allow you to play cello, violins, and organ.
This got us #WEinking what a great world of opportunity and creativity we live in.

As part of a growing trend to find alternatives to #fireworks, which are an environmental issue, #Shanghai celebrated the New Year by filling the skies with thousands of synchronised drones.
Nearly 2,000 #drones created giant spheres, text, and even a figure of a man that appeared to run across the skyline. The traditional midnight countdown was also performed by the drone swarm.
The performance was achieved through vast programming efforts to coordinate the drones, rather than by individual drone pilots.
In today’s #TriWEia, we seed a thought on #findingalternatives for major issues that our industry is causing and facing. From ban on use of #flex to #singleuseplastics to #wastecontrol. How do we add for better changes?

Christmas Surprise..
The almost kind of similar concepts to this campaign have been done enough now but #westjet was the first to bring alive the idea of gifting this beautifully.
Now that Christmas is almost here, here’s to one of the best #brandactivation that was converted to a #viralvideo.
“#Santa asked passengers what they wanted for #Christmas while they were boarding their flight. While the passengers were in the air, a team of volunteers purchased all the gifts. When the travelers arrived at their destination, they found their presents from Santa on the luggage carousel. Showing that the company shares the Christmas spirit and cares about its clients made the campaign a huge viral success.”

Shoes that will order you pizza?
Smart shoes that can track your workouts aren’t a new thing. Pizza Hut, however, has created smart shoes that are the polar opposite of fitness. The Pie Tops II, a sequel to last year’s Pie Tops sneaker, are here as part of an ad campaign for March Madness (via AdWeek).
Despite existing primarily as a marketing tool, the Pie Tops II are real shoes. Like the original Pie Tops, the Pie Tops II can order pizza — from Pizza Hut, naturally — through a button built into the tongue of one of the sneakers, which connects to your phone via Bluetooth. The Pie Tops II add an additional feature to the left shoe: a second button that can pause your TV (in theory so that you can get off your couch and get your pizza).
