Pleasure and privilege to host Tenzin Tsundue La at our hostel in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. He was in Hyderabad to talk about the culture, history and politics of the Indian Himalayan regions bordering Tibet.
Tenzin Tsundue is a prominent Tibetan activist known for his unwavering advocacy for Tibetan independence and human rights. A poet, writer, and activist, Tsundue La gained attention for his powerful writings and speeches advocating for the Tibetan cause. He is renowned for his distinctive red headband symbolizing his commitment to Tibet's freedom (headband's removal is directly proportional) and his non-violent activism. His works, including poetry collections and essays, reflect his deep connection to the Tibetan struggle and his unwavering determination to secure justice and freedom for Tibet.
Tenzin Tsundue's activism often takes bold forms, aimed at raising awareness about the Tibetan cause and challenging Chinese authority. One of the most notable incidents involving Tsundue and a Chinese premier occurred during the visit of Premier Wen Jiabao to India in 2005.
During Wen Jiabao's visit to Bangalore, Tsundue La managed to slip past security and gain access to the hotel where the Chinese premier was staying. Tsundue scaled a 15-foot-high wall to enter the hotel compound, wearing his trademark red headband and carrying a Tibetan flag. His intention was to draw attention to the Tibetan cause and to confront the Chinese premier directly about Tibet's struggle for independence. This incident was just one example of Tsundue's fearless activism, which often involves using creative and daring methods to draw attention to the plight of Tibetans living under Chinese rule.
Despite facing criticism and legal consequences for his actions, Tsundue remains committed to advocating for Tibetan independence and human rights through peaceful means.
Please feel free to read his books at our hostel, if you would like to know how to get involved in the movement for Tibet or if you would just like to know more -we look forward to speak with you.
P.S: The other picture with other Tibetans in Hyderabad was when he was speaking in Guruswamy Centre-a thinktank, Secunderabad.
