Dakshinee, a registered institute, founded by Late Suvo Guha Thakurta in 1948, has been instrumental in promulgating and fostering Tagore Music and Culture in its truest and purest form, outside the periphery of Shantiniketan in Kolkata. It boasts of 6000 pass outs(approximately) so far. At least a hundred such students are now well placed in the music world. From putting up musical soirees, dance-dramas to producing enigmatic plays on stage, Dakshinee stands tall amongst its contemporaries till date.
After celebrating its Silver-Jubilee, Golden-Jubilee, Diamond-Jubilee in the periods 1973-74, 1998-99, 2008-09 respectively as well as the Tagore’s Centenary and150th birth anniversaries with great pomp and fervour, Dakshinee is about to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee throughout 2023-2024.
Several programmes have been lined up for this entire period and will commence on 01.05.2023 with its inaugural programme at Rabindra Sadan. All are welcome to join and witness this historic event. Donations/sponsorships for the same are welcome. A minimum of Rs. 5000 has been fixed as donation amount which can be sent through cheque/NEFT in favour of DAKSHINEE. The dates and venues for the same are subject to change.
