There are many reasons of go to Manali and as mentioned earlier just the drive to get here is an adventure. Manali is in fact the adventure sports capital of Himanchal. This institute produces quality young men and women who then go on to become guides who operate the various adventure activities in the Manali region. Rafting on the Beas - The Beas River is a torrent and provides an adrenaline filled course of the adventure ju**ie in you. It’s a good 20/30 kms of class 3/4/5 water. It’s both challenging and fulfilling and the local companies have worked out various distances and difficulties to cater to different age groups and different levels of thrill seekers. Solang Valley - During the months of winter Solang Valley offers a superb gentle slope for first time Skiers. Even if you don’t want to ski in Solang Valley or find it too strenuous, Solang is just a fun place to be, Horse riding, Ski doo riding, snowball fights, sleigh rides and rides on rubber tubes, there is a whole lot of fun going on. In the summer this same valley becomes the centre for Parasailing and Zorbing. Basically if you are in Manali then you got to head to Solang Valley. Rohtang Pass - The drive up to Rohtang Pass is a thrill in itself and ranks as the number one adventure in Manali. The views are simple breathtaking. The waterfalls and streams en route make for fun picnic spots. The Manali Leh road is the ancient Hindustan Tibet road and one of the classic overland trips in the world. A large number to people head to this part of the world and undertake this awesome road trip by SUV, Car, Motorbike and cycle. It’s a Trans Himalayan traverse that almost takes you to the edge of outer space at least it terms of the landscape. Trekking in the Himalaya - Manali serves as the starting point for many treks in the region. From short day trips and over nighters to long haul trips with guides, porters, cooks and mule trains. Some popular trekking options are Hampta Pass, Malana, Pin Parvati, Chandrakhani Pass, Friendship Peak and the list can go on and on. An Ode to Manali- In the winter Manali rolls, in the summer I take Manali strolls. I love to go there in August to help my friends in the orchards, apple, plum, peaches and pears, paradise flycatcher in the trees, I love to watch her.
