Dot Line Space Art Foundation is excited to announce the open call for the Second Edition of Shores of Serenity, a dedicated residential program encouraging deep ecological dialogue and exchange from Chilika!
This opportunity is open to contemporary creative practitioners working across all disciplines, in the early and mid-career stages, based in India and broadly South Asia/Southeast Asia. Given the current socio-political scenario, the Foundation will prioritize applications from the North-East and East regions. However, submissions from across India and Southeast Asia are warmly welcomed.
Residency dates are from 19th June to 30th June 2024.

We are delighted to announce Anant Nikam’s solo exhibition, opening January 11, 2024 for Mumbai Gallery Weekend.

Transmit’ is an exhibition of paintings and installations, inviting the visitors into a space of tranquility and contemplation, wherein even in these turbulent times, they can reflect upon the beauty and complexity of the world around us. Anant Nikam continues in this exhibition on his lifelong quest to find tranquility at the borders of imagination and abstraction.
Nikam’s long journey into abstraction has been through printmaking, specifically through lino etching, allowing him to experiment with textural surfaces and develop a visual vocabulary of signs and symbols stemming from folk and tribal traditions. Over the years his works have gained a vibrant and deeply meaningful tapestry. His works in many senses have bridged the vast gap between our rural and proto-historical past and our complex present by bringing forth archaic symbols into an avant garde urban form of abstract representation.

"Observing nature through filmmaking is a big step to move from the external experience to the internal. There are two things in the filmmaker; the eye and the mind. Each of them should aid the other. Simple way I used the camera in direct natural sunlight. This suited me to create pure delight in abstract composition. They are expressive of inner feelings- powerful, rich in originality and honesty, which are settled, sublime and pure quality of natural forms. Sgraffito is a carving technique used as surface decoration on ceramic pieces.
Day 3 of Art35 brings you Batul Mamoowala's 2-hour session, where you will be given 2 mugs which you can paint and then carve out a pattern using the sgraffito method. Join us at the workshop as each participant will be given 2 mugs that we will later fire and glaze.
