Shahid Kabeer on 15th December, 2011. It works for promotion of Arts including Theatre, Literature, Cinema, Paintings, Folk forms and other forms of ‘people's culture’ that reflects and promotes love and concern for human life and human dignity.
‘Kabeera’ derives its name from Kabir, a poet saint during medieval period. He, through his compositions, challenged every tradition that he thought was
a tool of oppression of one human by another. He also preached love for all humans, irrespective of their caste, class, religion, gender, etc. as the highest form of worship. Thus he emphasized the need for solidarity and peace, which are the founding values of ‘Kabeera Foundation"
To create and promote awareness amongest t people on issues of democracy and secularism through democratization of art Goals:
• To mobilize and train community leaders so that they in turn can spread the message of peace and secularism at the grassroots
• To build its own stage and training schools
• To create a resource Centre and running libraries where interested people can read, learn and contribute to the society by any medium
• To develop strategies where more volunteers can be mobilized and identify with the work of Kabeera
Objectives
• To conduct theatre workshops with artists
• To mobilize a group and develop a story that can be made into a film
• Conduct more workshops in communities to create awareness
• To organize competitions to encourage culture and creativity amongst people
