Thank you does not seem like enough. Thanks to everybody who has supported our journey with their time, money, travel and effort.

It has been a fun, emotional and awesome ride and I am so chuffed that Joe and I honoured Pop by raising $36000 for the Wagga Base Renal Team.

Thank you to the Wagga Wagga Takes 2 committee, cast and crew. Bloody sensational effort this year which means all of the 10 charities are the real winners!

I remain so grateful to you Joe Madden. You are just a bloody awesome human.

While we will be hanging up the wigs for a while, please remember Kidney disease does not stop. Next time you are at the doctors please ask for your Kidney health check!

Much love,
❤️Kelly

So much love for all the acts on night two at Wagga Wagga Takes 2. Thanks to everyone who has been along. It’s one not to be missed.

****Final show tonight****

This journey started with a conversation about raising awareness for Kidney health and to showcase the amazing work of the Renal team in our community.

It became so much more after losing my Pop a few weeks back. It is now a way to acknowledge the gift he was in our lives and the gift of 12 extra years with him that our family received because of the work of the Renal Unit.

I remain extremely grateful to the awesome rockstar Joe Madden and the whole Wagga Takes 2 crew for providing such a wonderful way to celebrate and acknowledge my Pop, the Renal Unit and so many other great charities in our community.

Pop was so proud of all the work we had been doing in raising awareness around Kidney health and I know he would have loved the show.

This one will be a special one. Tonight’s performance was always for you Pop.
My mate, my champion.

❤️Kelly

Night one of Wagga Wagga Takes 2 was special! Joe and I remain extremely grateful for all the support.

Let me introduce some of the Renal Team by way of photo. This team, from Doctors to Nurses, dietitians to social workers, care for their patients as if they are family. They have shown up throughout a pandemic. They feel the loss of patients passing on, celebrate the wins and are champions of Kidney health. They often don’t get the recognition they deserve for the positive impact they make for families.

12 extra years is what our family received with my Pop. An absolute gift, and all because of Renal teams like this one.

Thank you to each and every person who gives their time, energy and skill to provide this service to our community. You are the superstars. Tonight is for you!

❤️Kelly

During Kidney health week, Clinton shared his story with us. In his video, he talked about raising funds for a coffee machine for the Nurses at the Renal unit.

After seeing Clinton’s story and watching our Wagga Wagga Takes 2 journey, a very kind and generous dontation has been made to the Unit in the form of a SMEG coffee machine.

A huge shout out to my new friend Clinton for being so brave in sharing his story of Kidney health. Clinton, you are a testament to kindness and thinking about the the people who care for you. Thanks for being an absolute champion!

Tonight, I sing (loose term) for kindness, with gratitude and for those affected by adverse kidney health.

❤️Kelly

12 Years…

That’s what dialysis gave our family. 12 years for my Pop to watch his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow! 12 years we would never have had without the care of the Renal teams who looked after him 3 days a week.

Yesterday we lost a great Man. While our hearts are feeling the loss, I am so grateful that Pop had 12 extra years with my children, who will now carry fond memories of him throughout their lives.

He was so proud of the awareness raising we have been doing for Kidney Health as a part of Wagga Wagga Takes 2. I am sad he won’t be here to see the show but I am sure he will be there in some way to say ‘are you sure you want to do this, you know you can’t sing right?’🤣🤣

This will be for you, my mate, my Pop, my champ!

Congratulations to Kath and Harry who were our winners of the Reverse Draw on Saturday night.

Harry is a renal patient and travels 121 km each way, 3 days a week to have dialysis in Wagga. Nurse Unit Manger Mitch (pictured here) sold Harry the winning ticket. The renal unit, other patients, Joe and I are super excited for Harry and Kath.

Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions and support in the lead up to Wagga Wagga Takes 2.

Meet my Pop, Don. He is a country music loving, green thumb extraordinaire and he is 84 today ❤️🍰🎈🎉👏🏽💪🏽

He is my reason to brave the stage in Wagga Wagga Takes 2 2022.

He has chronic Kidney disease. Three days a week, he has dialysis. This is what keeps him alive. Our family have seen the ups and downs of kidney health and the Renal team does a fabulous job keeping their patients entertained, in high spirits, and physically well during long stints on a dialysis machine.

My Pop is pictured here with my fabulous Mum. Debbie is one of the driving forces behind our World Kidney Day Art Exhibition on the 10th of March at the The Little Yellow House Gallery & Studio. Mum is really proud to be a part of this awareness campaign for the Wagga Base Hospital’s Renal Unit. Come and join us for a fabulous night.

The Little Yellow House Gallery & Studio has started to receive the first of our local artist’s kidney inspired artworks. Check out the work of Juanita, a local print maker!

These artworks produced by local artists, renal patients, their families and staff will contribute to a community display to create awareness of Kidney health and the work of the Wagga Base Hospital Renal Team.

We continue to be humbled everyone’s support and touched by the number of people who have a personal connection with chronic kidney disease. It will effect 1 in 10 Australian’s. To find out how your kidneys are traveling, book your kidney health check with your GP today!

Don’t forget to book tickets for the opening night of this exhibition on World Kidney Day- 10 March

Wagga Wagga Takes 2

An absolutely fabulous start to our fundraising for Joe and Kelly in this years with an amazing piece of kidney inspired art by the very talented local artist . Juanita is an indigenous artist who is a renowned print maker, her family have also been touched by kidney disease. This beautiful piece represents new life and the sheer number of people affected by this dreadful disease.

I am so pleased to be hosting an Art Exhibition in support of the Renal Unit at Wagga Base featuring 100 pieces of kidney inspired art created by dialysis patients and their families and most of Waggas best known artists! The exhibition is on Thursday 10th March with all proceeds going to the Renal Unit. An auction of amazing donated art pieces will also be held on the night. Pop onto the page for Kelly and Joe Wagga Takes 2 or the gallery page to get a link to purchase tickets to the exhibition.
