Moritz and Marta came for their first day of volunteering at Sandar Suðursins. Moritz will stay until the place is ready to go dormant so Moli began finding his Icelandic name which turned out to be Móri.
They where in for an very special day as we set up the yurt and had a blast on Africa Festival Stokkseyri.

Our first crowd fund is live!!!
Help us build up an amazing locations and show what can be done with what society disregards but can be turned into treasure with innovation, knowledge and wisdom.

We are hosting the festival Athöfn this summer on Sandar Suðursins. It focuses on action and ceremonies.
In our crowd fund we have access to the festival, our theme week, ceremonial cacao and more as rewards so you will get your moneys worth and more if you support us.

We are starting our first crowd funding campaign. We want to build up our site, the fertility, our living conditions and our temporary community.
Our festival Athöfn focuses on action on location and ceremonies that connect to nature.

We are proud of the progress we have made and now we begin to share what we have been up to and what is to come.

Last post we shared our Sandwitch and now we start sharing regarding the amazing The Nordic Permaculture Festival which we hosted last year and is hosted this summer in Norway.

We will have our own festival Athöfn from the 18-28th of July and you can save your spot there later in this week :)

We only got our land 6 weeks before hosting the festival, even if it was planned for 3 years to host the festival this put us in a time crunch.

With amazing volunteers that weathered a storm, many problems and overcame them all, we where able to end up with a great festival.

The weather didn't play a fair game and summer didn't really arrive until after the festival which was on the weekend that usually is the warmest in Iceland. But people had a lot of fun, took part in many workshops and connected with people who also want to create a better world.

Sandar Suðursins benefited greatly as participants in the festival added environmental features, plants and infrastructure. We got experience in hosting festivals on this land and are eager to do it again in 2018 with our own festival Athöfn.

In the summer of 2017 David Roxendal came to host a outdoor kitchen building course for Töfrastaðir and Sumarhúsið og garðurinn.
With no real plan and scavanged resources the participants learned by doing and took part in creating a very brilliant space.

The Sandwitch/Sandlokan was our main space at the The Nordic Permaculture Festival in Iceland 2017. It hosted talks, natural dyeing and many more.

With two rockets stoves, food cooling systems, tools storage and much more the Sandwitch/Sandlokan has become the center of our operations at Sandar Suðursins.

The man behind Töfrastaðir, Permavillage and Sandar Suðursins is going public with his projects.

Similar to a company going on the stock market Mörður Moli Gunnarsson Ottesen is putting his fate in the hands of patrons. The patrons will be able to vote on what he works on each month and get detailed reports which also gives a unique learning experience.

Summer is coming and we will have a festival!

The festival Athöfn is focused on action and ceremony. Taking action to change the current, building up strong ecology, infrastructure, body, and what we want.
We also celebrate our existence within nature in ceremonies and joyful community building at this unique festival

If you want to learn by doing, be active and enjoy Iceland in an off-grid lava field then this is probably your only option ;)
If you want to enjoy daily ceremonies and celebrations then this is a place for you.
