The Chain Bridge is a bridge over the Lima River located in Fornoli, a hamlet of Bagni di Lucca. It was built from 1844 to 1860 on commission from Carlo Ludovico di Borbone and a project by Lorenzo Nottolini. It was an adventurist work for the time, based on the innovative use of industrial iron techniques, through suspension with chains, and on a complex underground mechanism that held the chains themselves in tension.
