A day in the life of a wedding florist

Behind every beautiful wedding floral design are many hours you don’t see: flower sourcing, prepping, conditioning stems, packing the van, loading and unloading, setting up on site, adapting to unexpected challenges and making hundreds of little decisions along the way.

Wedding floristry is definitely not just arranging flowers. It’s physical, fast-paced, creative work, and every wedding brings its own set of challenges.

But somehow, when you look at the behind-the-scenes photos, you’ll mostly see us smiling. Because we genuinely love what we do. 🤍

Florence, art and flowers come together at Galleria Romanelli, one of the city’s historic sculpture galleries.

This September, FunkyBird will be creating site-specific floral arrangements at Galleria Romanelli in Florence for Cinefleur Digital Magazine, featuring the beautiful and sculptural Cymbidium orchid.

Known for its extraordinary collection of sculptures and historic Florentine setting, Galleria Romanelli is the perfect backdrop for a floral editorial exploring the connection between contemporary floral design, art and Italian craftsmanship.

We’re excited to bring our floral vision into this unique Florence location and create something completely site-specific.

Tangerine tones, warm summer light, and a Tuscan backdrop made this wedding feel like a celebration of colour from start to finish.

For this destination wedding in the heart of Tuscany, we designed florals in warm shades of tangerine, apricot, peach and soft coral, creating a look that felt modern, joyful and full of summer energy. Against the backdrop of historic Italian architecture and endless countryside views, these vibrant tones brought a fresh twist to a classic Tuscan wedding.

From the ceremony flowers to the reception tables, every detail was created to reflect the couple’s personality while embracing the beauty of an Italian celebration.

Jessie and Corey, what an amazing couple. Dark red hues throughout the design with pops of intense green and soft pink. This was one of the first locations we ever did a wedding some fifteen years ago, and I still love coming back here. What an amazing thing to be part of people’s best day.
