Meet Diego Tortelli, Head of Choreography for the Olympic Closing Ceremony of .
Born in Brescia in 1987, trained at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome and at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. After dancing with major international companies—including BOD/Richard Siegal and Ballet National de Marseille—he shifted his focus to choreography in 2015, x his first full-length piece La bella addormentata for Nuovo Balletto di Toscana and becoming an associate choreographer of the MilanOltre Festival.
Since 2018 he has been resident choreographer at Centro Coreografico Nazionale/Aterballetto, for which he has created numerous works, including Domus Aurea, Preludio, Feeling Good, Kepler, Meridiana, Stanze/Rooms, Shoot me, and Glory Hall as well as several digital creations. In 2021 he won the first Italian artists’ call launched by the Venice Biennale’s Dance Department, directed by Wayne McGregor. In 2019, together with dramaturg Miria Wurm, he founded his collective in Munich, presenting new creations every year.

Founded in 1977 and transformed into the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza in 2003, is Italy’s first National Choreographic Centre. A creative hub for contemporary dance and cross-arts exploration, it features a 16-dancer company and a dynamic, innovative approach, bringing acclaimed productions to leading stages in Italy and worldwide.
