A new hospitality format and a creative agency focused on contemporary cultures to stimulate, thanks to art residencies, exhibitions, talks, and events, the encounters between travelers, artists, designers with the town and its inhabitants. SuperOtium wants to convey an image of Naples that could reach beyond the folklore to express the city's cultural richness and innovation thanks to the encount

er between artists, creatives, travelers and the city itself with its inhabitants. To reach this goal SuperOtium acts as:
- a creative agency dedicated to contemporary cultures, art, cinema, design and events;
- a space that combines residences for artists, writers, designers and curators, talks, events and exhibitions with accommodation activities, to stimulate the meeting and exchange between inhabitants and travelers;
- an art hotel which, thanks to its residency program for artists and creative talents who wish to find inspiration in Naples and its calendar of cultural events, seeks to become an international reference for travelers, artists, curators, writers and culture lovers;
- a connecting hub between its guests and the city, a place where they can be inspired to create new works, discover what is hiding behind the postcard, and experience the balance of the shifting relationship between tradition and innovation. From 2017 to today SuperOtium has curated its program of residences which among the various has seen the participation of Kensuke Koike, Pietro Gaglianò, Massimo Uberti, Camouflage (Visual Container + Ex-Voto + Tilde), Hypereden, Bianca Felicori (Forgotten Architecture) , Gianluca Panareo (in collaboration with Riot Studio), Nuvola Ravera (in collaboration with Made in Cloister), Blase (in collaboration with ShowDesk), Yasser Almaamoun (in collaboration with the Goethe Institut), Khaled El Mays (in collaboration with Edit Napoli ). SuperOtium has curated the exhibition project of the "Ritorno" exhibition (at the Polo Museale di Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio in Arco) and the "Postcard from Europe" exhibition (at SuperOtium), co-curated the event, part of the agenda of the Cop21 conference with Automat Radio, co-conceived and co-curated the “Trame” project with the costume designer Daniela Ciancio and the Campania Film Commission. SuperOtium has been designing and curating talks, workshops and meetings at his own place in collaboration with other local, national and international organizations. SuperOtium was strongly desired and generated by Nicola Ciancio (author and curator of cultural projects and creative director for events) and Vincenzo Falcione (project manager in the field of Ecology and Environment). Alissa Marchenko joined us on 2 September for a 10-day residency. On 11 the September, she will show us the results of her research in Naples together with previously realised works Pigmenti - opening - Alissa Marchenko.

Here we are about to welcome Alissa Marchenko, the next artist who will be in residency with us from 2 to 12 September.

During her residency entitled ‘Pigments’, Alissa will continue her search for stories and natural elements that become the ‘pigment’, the basic element, that she uses to create her works.
11 September at 6 p.m. will be the time when we will open the exhibition, which will also include some works created during her stay in Naples.

‘Pigements’ is part of SuperOtium’s residency programme, curated by Nicola Ciancio , which received the Matronage of the Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts (Museo Madre ).
The residency is developed in collaboration with the bianchizardin .

Thanks to the “look closer” exhibition, our rooms have been populated with artworks by young and mid-carrier artists that allow us to open ourselves to new looks.

Such is the case with the work of Mariapia Pellegrino, selected by Bianco Valente , whose diptych “be there” and “trust” invites us closer to discover the subtle scratches on the canvas that depict the interaction and interconnection between people and their gazes.

This work for sale can be viewed by appointment or by staying in our superior easy access room.

Everyone has their own stories and their own way of interpreting images. Therefore, in the work ‘Where did I put it? I can’t find it!’ by Erk 14 , wandering through details and everyday objects allows the viewer to find and construct their own stories.

The work, selected by is part of the exhibition Look Closer curated by Nicola Ciancio for SuperOtium .

It was 2017 and we were still in the midst of part of the work and setting up of SuperOtium. Gianluca Panareo , then a guest with us for the Memini project with Marco Izzolino and Riot studio , gifted us these shots.

What really makes a simple hotel an art-hotel is the way it is able to involve not only artists and designers to bring their works but to build a story together with local, national and international creatives and cultural organisations to make this place a reference for the international art and cultural community.
Since 2017, when we started our adventure, we have been privileged to collaborate with many friends and colleagues who have made this place unique.
Starting from the with whom we designed the spaces of SuperOtium to the different artists and creatives who have followed one another in the years including , Paz Ortuzar , Martina Merlini , Pierre-Antoine Vettorello and Bianca Felicori, the collaborations with different organizations and festivals such as , EDIT Napoli , Grand Tour en Italie_ , Instituto Cervantes de Nápoles .
A story that is built up in many as in our latest exhibition “Look Closer” where 7 curators and collectors invited as many artists to bring one of their works to the SuperOtium bedrooms.
More than 20 artists-in-residence, almost 100 events, about 10 exhibitions, these are the figures of our activity.

To highlight the intimacy and transience with which SuperOtium ’s bedrooms are experienced as shared private spaces, Attiva Cultural Projects (Martina Campese and Marta Mazzoni ) invited Luca Gioacchino Di Bernardo to present one of his works in the exhibition Look Closer.

In the work “Anello Della Vista”, inspired by a drawing by Gianfranco Barucchello, the artist immerses us in the processes of the unconscious that are activated by the very act of observing.

This work, on consignment, can be viewed until 27 October 2024 by appointment or by staying in our Queen Deluxe2 room.

on the occasion of the exhibition look closer, our room queen deluxe1 began to be inhabited by the work of Martina Di Gennaro , invited by Maria Corbi .

In the work Abito, the intaglio print on fabric overlaps - but does not adhere to - the print on paper, letting it shine through. Layer upon layer, highlighting the porous structure of the material and handing over to us the complexity of a focus that continually escapes.

Save Our Souls, the work of , invited by for .napoli , who by creating the image of the sea, through a pattern of watercolours, invites us to look closer to read the message that the sea sends us.

the opening of the exhibition look closer was a moment of great openness and generosity. Our guests, artists, curators and exhibition visitors met in the rooms, where the works were placed, and in the collective spaces of SuperOtium to share this moment together. Our guests opened their rooms and the artists shared their practices in an event that was like a journey, bringing together in one place physical and mental worlds that were far apart.
We are delighted with this project that conveys through the work of local artists the complex nature of this city.

Our Deluxe 1 queen will host the engravings of artist Martina Di Gennaro , selected by Maria Corbi, where signs and scratches such as wrinkles, cracks or stains on old buildings are both evidence and premonitions of past and future stories.

The opening of the exhibition Look Closer - 7 opere in camera da letto // Opening is approaching and the works of the 7 selected artists are gradually occupying the rooms of .
This is the case of the artist Andrea Bolognino , invited by the curator Francesca Blandino , for Collezione Agovino, to exhibit one of his works that dialogues with visual imperfections to put us in touch with details and new visions.
The room dedicated to his work is our King Superior.

Nel centro antico esiste un monumento chiamato Corpo di Napoli che in realtà raffigura il fiume Nilo e che inspira racconti e anima riflessioni sull'identità della città e dei suoi abitanti. L'artista Simona Da Pozzo dialoga ormai da anni con questo monumento e il 20 giugno alle 18.30 nell'evento Ohhh goddesses! racconterà di questa relazione con la complicità di Chiara Pirozzi partendo dalla pubblicazione "It's Raining Gods (& Goddesses)", edita da Ex-Voto realizzata in occasione dell'omonima mostra presso il nostro vicino di casa Museo Archeologico di Napoli.

On 25 June we will open our next exhibition Look Closer - 7 opere in camera da letto // Opening , which involved 7 curators and collectors inviting an artist to exhibit his or her work in one of SuperOtium’s rooms.
Today we start by presenting the first pair, which sees artist Valerio Sarnataro aka Erk 14 invited by Giulio Raffaele, co-founder of Silent Art Explorer , for his ability to translate everyday obsessions and dreams into symbolic stratifications.
The room that will host Erk14’s work is our Superior.

uno spazio che unisce residenze per artisti, scrittori, designer e curatori, incontri, eventi e mostre e attività ricettiva, per stimolare l’incontro e lo scambio fra gli abitanti e i viaggiatori;

un art hotel che, grazie ad un programma di residenze per artisti, che vogliano farsi inspirare da Napoli, e un calendario di eventi culturali, vuole diventare riferimento a livello internazionale per viaggiatori, artisti, curatori, scrittori ed amanti della cultura;

un hub di collegamento fra i suoi ospiti e la città per farsi ispirare nella creazione di nuove opere, scoprire cosa si nasconde dietro la cartolina e vivere l’equilibrio di un mutevole rapporto fra tradizione ed innovazione.

Dal 2017 ad oggi SuperOtium ha curato il proprio programma di residenze che fra i vari ha visto la partecipazione di Kensuke Koike, Pietro Gaglianò, Massimo Uberti, Camouflage (Visual Container + Ex-Voto + Tilde), Hypereden, Bianca Felicori (Forgotten Architecture), Gianluca Panareo (in collaborazione con Riot Studio), Nuvola Ravera (in collaborazione con Made in Cloister), Blase (in collaborazione con ShowDesk), Yasser Almaamoun (in collaborazione con il Goethe Institut), Khaled El Mays (in collaborazione con Edit Napoli).

Ha curato il progetto espositivo della mostra Ritorno (presso il Polo Museale di Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio ad Arco) e l’allestimento della mostra Postcard from Europe (presso SuperOtium), co-curato l’evento #SavetheMediterranean, parte dell’agenda della conferenza Cop21 con Automat Radio, co-ideato e co-curato il progetto Trame con la costumista Daniela Ciancio e la Film Commission Campania. Ha inoltre ideato e curato talk, workshop ed incontri presso la propria struttura anche in collaborazione con altre realtà locali, nazionali ed internazionali.

SuperOtium nasce dal desiderio di Nicola Ciancio (autore e curatore di progetti culturali e direttore creativo di eventi) e Vincenzo Falcione (project manager nel campo dell’Ecologia e dell’Ambiente) di dar vita a un progetto innovativo che esalti la capacità di Napoli di essere vivo contenitore di arte, quale sua evidente stratificazione dall’antichità ad oggi, musa ispiratrice, palcoscenico e vetrina.
