Il primo progetto della creatura di 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 e 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧, in particolare, si è focalizzato sulla proposta di utilizzo del linguaggio BASIC per l’Altair 8800, uno dei primi computer prodotti dalla Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems. 💡

L’intuizione del duo si è rivelata un successo: la versione del BASIC sviluppata da Microsoft funziona perfettamente e viene quindi data in licenza alla MITS, di cui Allen diventa direttore dello sviluppo software. 🔝

Da questo primo traguardo, la società si espansa sempre di più e, con la creazione del primo sistema operativo Windows nel 1985, è progressivamente diventata la realtà multinazionale e multimiliardaria che conosciamo oggi. 😄

Oggi è praticamente impossibile non conoscere il brand Microsoft, con cui siamo costantemente in contatto grazie ai suoi PC, smartphone, sistemi operativi, software, videogiochi, console e servizi web. 📱🎮

The first project of 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 and 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 's creature focused on the proposed use of the BASIC language for the Altair 8800, one of the first computers produced by Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems. 💡

The duo's intuition turned out to be a success: the version of BASIC developed by Microsoft worked perfectly and was then licensed to MITS, of which Allen became director of software development. 🔝

From this first milestone, the company expanded more and more and, with the creation of the first Windows operating system in 1985, gradually became the multi-billion-dollar, multi-national company we know today. 😄

Nowadays, it is virtually impossible not to know the Microsoft brand, with which we are constantly in contact thanks to its PCs, smartphones, operating systems, software, video games, consoles and web services. 📱🎮

Elettra Robotics Lab è un’associazione no profit, fondata da un gruppo di makers con lo scopo di promuovere la robotica come elemento di studio, svago e lavoro. A questo scopo, collabora con diversi enti, aziende e scuole. Ha lanciato una propria linea di prodotti educativi, in particolare i robot in kit PoldinoBot, in varie versioni e le schede della linea PoldinoBoard e l'ultima nata Elettrino. I progetti dell'associazione, in particolare i robot umanoidi, sono stati esposti in numerosi eventi nazionali ed internazionali. 😄

At 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭, at 11 a.m. on Saturday 18 January at the Libri Sandit stand, the 𝐄𝐧𝐠. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐨 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐨 will show visitors the following robotic specimens in action:

◾a cobotic arm programmed in Python

The purpose of the demo is to provide a brief overview of the main forms of robots on the market, while also giving visitors some basic knowledge of robotics as it is understood today. 🔝

Ideato dall'ingegnere IBM Frank Canova, Simon era in grado di svolgere buona parte dei compiti di un computer portatile, come la gestione di rubriche, appuntamenti, fax, e-mail, e permetteva anche di scrivere con un pennino. Nonostante le dimensioni ingombranti, con un peso di 510 grammi, questo smartphone primitivo era dotato di un'interfaccia grafica touchscreen che facilitava l'utilizzo delle varie applicazioni. Il tutto era reso possibile da un sistema operativo ROM-DOS, da un processore x86 da 16 Mhz con 1 MB di RAM e dalla memoria interna espandibile. 😮

Il suo malus principale, invece, risiedeva nella batteria, che si scaricava dopo una sola ora di autonomia. 🪫

A causa del prezzo elevato per gli standard dell’epoca (895 dollari con contratto e 1.099 dollari senza contratto), sono state vendute soltanto 50000 unità di Simon e la produzione è stata interrotta dopo 6 mesi. 💸

Al netto di queste considerazioni, è ragionevole pensare che senza la “creatura” di Frank Canova non avremmo mai avuto tra le mani gli smartphone che conosciamo oggi. 😄

The mobile device was named 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐧 and was officially launched on the market in 1994 by BellSouth. 🔝

Although the term ‘smartphone’ was only coined in 1997 by Ericsson (with its GS 88 Penelope model), Simon was a true Copernican revolution for IBM and mobile technology. In fact, it combined the functionality of a PDA with that of a mobile phone. 💡

Conceived by IBM engineer Frank Canova, Simon was capable of performing most of the tasks of a laptop, such as managing address books, appointments, faxes, e-mails, and even allowed writing with a stylus. Despite its bulky size, weighing 510 grams, this primitive smartphone was equipped with a graphical touchscreen interface that facilitated the use of various applications. This was made possible by a ROM-DOS operating system, a 16 Mhz x86 processor with 1 MB RAM and expandable internal memory. 😮

Its main malus, however, lay in its battery, which would run down after only one hour of battery life. 🪫

Due to the high price by the standards of the time (895 dollars with contract and 1,099 dollars without contract), only 50000 Simon units were sold and production was stopped after 6 months. 💸

These considerations aside, it is reasonable to think that without Frank Canova's ‘creature’ we would never have had the smartphones we know today in our hands.

Questo importante passo avanti nell'ambito della comunicazione è avvenuto in seguito alla creazione dell' 𝐔.𝐑.𝐈 - 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 (l'antenata dell'attuale Rai), situata a Palazzo Corrodi a Roma. 😄

Il primo annuncio, letto dalla storica violinista e conduttrice 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢, introduceva un'esibizione di musica classica: "Uri, Unione Radiofonica Italiana. 1-RO: stazione di Roma. Lunghezza d'onda metri 425. A tutti coloro che sono in ascolto il nostro saluto e il nostro buonasera. Sono le ore 21 del 6 ottobre 1924. Trasmettiamo il concerto di inaugurazione della prima stazione radiofonica italiana, per il servizio delle radio audizioni circolari, il quartetto composto da Ines Viviani Donarelli, che vi sta parlando, Alberto Magalotti, Amedeo Fortunati e Alessandro Cicognani, eseguirà Haydn dal quartetto opera 7 primo e secondo tempo". 🎻

Successivamente, la radio ha iniziato a diffondersi sempre più capillarmente tra gli abitanti del Belpaese e la sua popolarità, nonostante la concorrenza dei numerosi altri media esistenti oggi, sembra non essere tramontata. 🎶

This important step forward in the field of communication came with the creation of the 𝐔.𝐑.𝐈 - 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 (the ancestor of today's RAI), located in Palazzo Corrodi in Rome. 😄

The first announcement, read by the historic violinist and speaker Ines Viviani Donarelli, introduced a performance of classical music: ‘Uri, Unione Radiofonica Italiana. 1-RO: Rome station. Wavelength metres 425. To all those listening, our greetings and good evening. It is 9 p.m. on 6 October 1924. We are broadcasting the inauguration concert of the first Italian radio station, for the service of circular radio auditions, the quartet composed of 𝐈𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢, who is speaking to you, Alberto Magalotti, Amedeo Fortunati and Alessandro Cicognani, will perform Haydn from the quartet opera 7 first and second half’. 🎻

In poche parole, il web è uno dei servizi disponibili su internet mentre quest'ultimo si riferisce alla rete fisica di cavi, server, router etc.

🌍 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐛: is the public information system that can be accessed via the Internet

In a nutshell, the web is one of the services available on the internet while the latter refers to the physical network of cables, servers, routers etc.

La Mostra RADIANT è nata nel 1991 ed inizialmente é rivolta soprattutto al settore radiantistico con una componente dedicata alle radio d’epoca. Parecchie sono le associazioni che in questi 20 anni sono state di supporto alla Manifestazione stessa: l’A.R.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani), la F.I.R.-C.B. (Federazione Italiana Ricetrasmissioni Citizen’s Band), l’A.I.R.E. (Associazione Italiana per la Radio d’Epoca) e l’A.I.R.(Associazione Italiana Radioascolto); inoltre è da sottolineare la prestigiosa partecipazione di importanti Enti Pubblici come la Provincia di Milano, presente con le sue postazioni mobili del Servizio di Protezione Civile e il Ministero delle Comunicazioni. Nel 2004 si è aggiunto il patrocinio dell’Assessorato alla Cultura e Servizi Educativi del Comune di Segrate. A livello espositivo sono centinaia gli operatori che si sono avvicendati nei padiglioni di Novegro provenienti da varie regioni del nostro Paese ed anche dall’estero costituendo un punto di grande attrazione per migliaia di appassionati. Un’edizione annua nel ‘91 e nel ‘92, due dal ’93 al 2001, tre dal 2002 al 2006 e, dal 2007, quattro con appuntamenti nei mesi di gennaio, aprile, giugno e settembre. Uno sviluppo decisivo è avvenuto nel 2000 con l’inserimento di nuove tematiche, la modifica del nome, divenuto RADIANT AND SILICON, e l’assunzione di un sottotitolo particolarmente significativo: L’Evoluzione della Comunicazione che, nel 2011, per adeguarsi ai nuovi sviluppi merceologici, è stato mutato in Mercato del Consumer Electronics. In un’animata carrellata tra passato e futuro, la Rassegna si configura in tre settori: MOSTRA-MERCATO (elettronica, informatica, telefonia cellulare e statica, apparati e componenti per telecomunicazioni, Internet e ricetrasmissioni di terra e satellitari, hobbistica ed editoria) BORSA-SCAMBIO (surplus radioamatoriale, informatico ed elettronico) RADIOANTIQUARIATO (radio d’epoca, grammofoni, valvole, ricambi, dischi in vinile, schemari ed editoria specializzata) Attualmente RADIANT, che si sviluppa su una superficie espositiva superiore ai 10.000 mq. coperti, con una media di circa 180 espositori per edizione ed oltre 40.000 visitatori annui, è considerata la più importante Mostra-Mercato nazionale del suo settore.
