Mediterraneo Dance Festival, an international dance event currently in its 29st edition, is an annual event of reference for students, teachers, professional dancers and dance enthusiasts. Conceived as an intercultural Study- Vacation to deepen, improve the technique and style of the different dance expressions: modern, contemporary and hip hop, it is honored by the presence of world-renowned masters and choreographers.
The program includes dance classes in different educational levels, kids, beginners, intermediate, advanced and professional, choreographic workshops led by choreographers of the most important and famous international companies, meetings, exhibitions, competitions, video productions and shows.
A large number of dancers and choreographers attended the festival since 1992, the year of it’s birth. Successfully extended from year to year it has become one of the most famous and interesting dance events in Europe, with participants from all over Italy and European countries (Spain, France, Germany, Malta, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Norway, Greece), as well as outside Europe (Russia, Ukraine, USA, Australia, Argentina, Israel, China and Japan ...)
The study program is divided into 2 parts:
Lab 1, which will take place from July 10th to 18th with courses of hip hop, modern jazz and modern contemporary, divided in 3 levels, kids/beginner, intermediate, advanced/ prof.;
Lab 2, from July 18th to 26st, where the program is composed of more theatrical dance styles, such as modern and contemporary dance, with intermediate and advanced/prof. level classes and choreographic labs reserved for advanced and professional levels.
Every single LAB is enriched by a series of other events, such as the International Competition for Groups and Soloists, the Final Show and Galà with the participation of the students and guest artists, the Ceremony of Awards and Scholarships for MDF ITALY 2021 and the Meeting with the teachers. Scheduled, there are also visits to enchanting places and villages nearby, and boat trips to admire the beautiful crystal clear waters as well as the fantastic rocky coastline.
LOCATION
MDF ITALY 2020 will take place at NELEMA VILLAGE RESORT, a fantastic property located along the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria in the famous and renowned Riviera dei Cedri.
Nelema Resort is part of San Nicola Arcella, a characteristic town with beautiful and charming beaches, that include also the famous Arco Magno, and it’s a few kilometers far from beautiful places like Diamante, famous for artistic murals and where is the small Cirella island, Praja a Mare with the Dino island,and the famous medieval and maritime village of Scalea.
At about 15 km north direction there is Basilicata region with the beautiful town of Maratea and the imposing statue of the Redeemer.
MDF participants will have the opportunity to visit these locations and will be able to take part in boat trips to admire the beauty of the coast with the characteristic caves of Arco Magnoand the Blue Caves.
Mediterraneo Dance Festival is a cultural project produced and organized by the cultural association Mediterraneo Arte of Reggio Calabria, directed by Basilio Foti, with the collaboration of FB production (China partner), FeelMINI(photo and video production), and the support of the amazing staff.
